This article has been read 313 times.

Greene County Farm Bureau recently announced that they will award an "Ag in the Classroom" scholarship to a teacher in the Fox Chapel School District.

Eric Butokovic will attend a weeklong institute to be held at Penn State University main campus this month, according to the farm bureau's president, Roland Daniels.

Teachers will spend half of their time on interactive agricultural activities in a lab setting, while the remaining time consists of farm tours and visits to agriculture production facilities and research labs.

Teachers learn about the many aspects of food production from producer to consumer and how to meet the Pennsylvania agriculture standards in their classrooms.

The Greene County Farm Bureau is a volunteer organization that works to advance the interests of agriculture and rural communities.

It offers benefits and services to its 318 members and is affiliated with the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and the American Farm Bureau Federation.
