Police ID victims in fatal accident
State police on Wednesday released the names of six people who survived a one-vehicle accident Tuesday in Hanover Township that killed a Franciscan University of Steubenville athlete.
The injured were treated at UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh, and Weirton (W.Va.) Medical Center following the accident on Route 22 in which passenger Kelly Roggensack, 19, of Brentwood, Tenn., died. The injured have since been released, university spokeswoman Lisa Ferguson said Wednesday.
The van driven by Rita Pedulla, 19, of Edmond, Okla., veered off the road, rolled onto its roof and traveled 50 feet down an embankment three miles east of the West Virginia line. Pedulla swerved to avoid striking a tire tread in the westbound lanes, state police said.
