Police charge rock thrower in weekend incident

Southwest Regional police have charged an 18-year-old Belle Vernon man with throwing a rock that went through the window of a car Saturday, injuring a Bentleyville woman who was a passenger.

George Stevens, of 6 Marion Villa, faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, propulsion of missiles, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.

He was identified as the person who threw the rock at the car on Third Street near Long Street in Newell, Fayette County, that hit Debra Combs, 55, of 149 Lusk Road, Bentleyville, in the forehead. She was treated at Mon Valley Hospital for her injuries. Newell is across the Monongahela River from California.
