Community events announced
Greene County Conservation District will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at 265 Dark Hollow Road, Waynesburg.
Aleppo Brethren Church will hold a community dinner at 5 p.m. Friday. Lasagna, salad and dessert will be served. At 7 p.m. Saturday, the church will host a hymn sing. Refreshments will be served after the event.
Waynesburg High School Class of 1954 will hold its annual get together beginning at 5 p.m. Sept. 29 in the Spare Room of Stryker's Bar and Grill. Those planning to attend are asked to notify Dena at 724-627-9627.

A Mon River access walk will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 26 between County Street and Mon View Park in Greensboro. Those wishing to participate are asked to meet at the Log Cabin on Front Street. There will be a self-supported easy group paddle at the end, so bring your canoe or kayak. Walk The River! is co-hosted by the Nathanael Greene Historical Foundation and the Borough of Greensboro. Walk The River! is co-led by Peggy Pings, outdoor recreation planner with the National Park Service's Rivers & Trails Program. She can be reached at 304-293-2941, ext. 2446, or at mpings@wvu.edu. The group also will host some fun walks and paddles Sept. 1 during the second annual Art Blast on the Mon Festival.
Dave Vrana of Carmichaels is hosting a Polka Fest with proceeds to benefit All Saints Regional School, Masontown. The Polka Fest will be held in the All Saints Church Social Hall, Church Ave., Masontown, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 9. A buffet dinner featuring holupki, kielbasa and kraut, pierogi, rigatoni, desert and beverages will be served at noon. Tickets are $15 per person and include admission to the dance, buffet dinner and refreshments. For more information about this event call Vrana at 724-966-5874.
