Washington police charged a 23-year-old Washington woman with rape Tuesday after she allegedly forced a man to have sex with her and then burned him with a curling iron last month.

Samantha Harvey of 38 W. Walnut St. also was charged with aggravated indecent assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, terroristic threats and reckless endangerment.

The 22-year-old man from Washington told police that Harvey came into his bedroom on the night of Aug. 20 as he was getting ready for bed. Harvey and the man know each other, police said.

Harvey told him that she would cut open his penis and watch him bleed to death unless he had sex with her, according to a criminal complaint filed with Senior District Judge Marjorie Teagarden. She also reportedly slapped him in the face.

According to the complaint, Harvey then took the man to her bedroom, where they had sex. She grabbed a hot curling iron, clipping it on the victim's ear, causing it to burn and blister.

She again threatened the man, telling him that if he didn't improve, something bad would happen to him. After a few more minutes, Harvey clipped the curling iron to his penis, police said.

He reported the incident to police the morning after the assault. He was treated at Washington Hospital for burns and blisters.

Harvey was placed in Washington County Jail on a probation detainer. Harvey is on probation after pleading guilty last year to charges of theft and terroristic threats for stealing money from her grandmother on May 15, 2006.

Her grandmother had been caring for an elderly Canton Township resident when Harvey forced her way into the house and grabbed a steak knife. She threatened to kill her grandmother unless she gave her money. Charges of burglary, robbery and reckless endangerment were dismissed as part of the plea.

She will be arraigned on the new charges at a later date.
