BENTLEYVILLE Harassment charge: Brett Goodwin, 22, of Scenery Hill, faces a charge of harassment after state police say he grabbed April Bracker, 29, of Bentleyville, by the neck during a confrontation early Monday at a home on Old West Road, Bentleyville.
Charged in stabbing: Shaquayla M. Lowery, 20, of Swissvale, was arrested early Saturday by California police after she allegedly stabbed her ex-boyfriend at Vulcan Village, formerly known as Jefferson Apartments. When police arrived, they found Dadre Lamont Williams, 21, of Pittsburgh, on the couch at his apartment with a stab wound to his back and minor wound to his hand. He was flown to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh, for treatment. The knife was found in the sink. Lowery was found inside her Vulcan Village apartment. She reportedly told police that she stabbed him after an argument. Lowery was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment. She was placed in Washington County Jail on $5,000 bond. CANONSBURG
Assault charge: Jason Pavlek, 29, of 651 Gladden Road, Canonsburg, was charged with simple assault and harassment by Canonsburg police after he allegedly shoved his wife, Janis Pavlek, and held her against a wall during a confrontation Saturday at 272 Vine St. Pavlek was arraigned via video before District Judge Gary Havelka and released on his own recognizance. Jailed for harassment: Anthain D. Goehring, 22, of 529 Moore Ave., Canonsburg, was arrested Saturday by Canonsburg police after a confrontation with Teresa Rothka. He is accused of trying to push her out of their apartment and threatening to kill her and her family. He was arraigned via video before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of harassment, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $2,500 bond. Car stolen: Vincent LoCastro of 102 Standing Rock Drive, McMurray, told Canonsburg police Monday that his red 2003 Mercedes SL500 convertible was stolen from the lot of his dealership, All Pro Auto Mall, South Central Avenue. He told police he drove the car, but it was for sale. Tree stolen: Ryan Vogt of 1134 First St. told Canonsburg police Monday that a topiary tree was stolen from his yard.
Vandalism to toilet: Vandals pushed over a portable toilet near the Rotary shelter at Town Park Sunday, Canonsburg police said. Motorcyclists injured: Eric H. Valentine, 46, and Cheryl Valentine, 49, both of 49 Woodside Drive, South Strabane Township, were injured Friday evening when a pickup truck driven by Connor Christine O'Brien, 16, of 288 Lakeview Drive, South Strabane Township, made a left turn into the path of their motorcycle. Eric Valentine told police he was going east on West Pike at North Jefferson Avenue when O'Brien made the turn. The Valentines were taken to Washington Hospital for treatment. CANTON TOWNSHIP Harassment charge: Kenneth E. Blackhurst of Washington faces a charge of harassment after state police say he grabbed Maryann Blackhurst of Washington by the neck during an incident Monday at 441 Brad Ave., Canton. COKEBURG Converters stolen: Three catalytic converters valued at $1,000 were reported stolen over the weekend from three vehicles parked at Royal Hydraulics in Cokeburg, state police said. DONEGAL TOWNSHIP Jailed in assault: Russell V. Sprowls, 56, of 2086 Behan Ridge Road, Donegal, was arrested Monday night by Donegal police after he allegedly slashed his wife, Pat Beatty-Wilcox, in the hand during a confrontation at their home. She told police that he came at her with a knife and she tried to grab it. When he pulled away, her hand was cut at the fingers. Police said Beatty-Wilcox was cut so severely that paramedics feared she would lose a finger. She was taken to a hospital for treatment. Sprowls was found outside. The serrated knife was found in the kitchen. He was arraigned by video before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and simple assault. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $5,000 bond. EAST WASHINGTON Charged in chase: David A. Sesler Jr., 30, of 141 Lacock St., Canton Township, was charged with fleeing from police, reckless endangerment, reckless driving and other traffic violations, accused of leading East Washington police on a brief chase early Sunday. Police said Sesler was driving fast on his motorcycle when he drove through a stop sign shortly after 2 a.m. and failed to stop for police. He jumped from the motorcycle while it was still moving and ran between houses in the 200 block of North Wade Avenue before being arrested, police said. HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP DUI charge: Lisa Smitsky, 29, of Avella, faces charges stemming from a one-vehicle crash early Sunday on Route 331 west, Hopewell. State police said Smitsky was driving at a high speed when her vehicle hit a utility pole in front of 2074 Brush Run Road. The vehicle then rolled onto its roof. Smitsky will be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under suspension, having no insurance and failure to drive at a safe speed. NORTH FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP Trespass charge: James Gaito, 21, of 2785 W. Chestnut St., North Franklin, faces charges of criminal trespass, loitering and prowling at night and public drunkenness after North Franklin police say he was caught early Saturday at Woodland Apartments, Hancock Street. After he was apprehended, Gaito complained of chest pains. He was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment, but he ran away, police said. Theft charge: North Franklin police charged Justin D. Slider, 21, of 805 Ewing St., Washington, with retail theft after he allegedly stole engagement and wedding rings from J.B. Robinson Jewelers in Washington Crown Center Aug. 27. Police said Slider took the two rings valued at $979 while the clerk was away briefly and left the store. Investigators used store records to track down Slider at his home, where they found the rings on his wife's hand, police said. Wheel cover stolen: Robert Loar Sr. of 63 Cleveland Road told North Franklin police Thursday that the spare tire wheel cover was stolen from his vehicle. NORTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP Doors stolen: Four doors were stolen from a green Jeep Wrangler parked at Tomsic Chrysler & Jeep, 150 Racetrack Road, Wednesday, North Strabane police said. The doors will cost $10,000 to replace. Vehicle scratched: Charles Holt of 170 Wylie Ave., Strabane, told North Strabane police Friday that vandals scratched his vehicle while parked outside Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 553, 109 View Ave. Pump stolen: A well pump was reported stolen Sunday from the home of Sakir Ogoz, 22 Belen Hill Drive, North Strabane police said. DUI charge: Daniel Premro, 49, of 201 McGregor Drive, Canonsburg, will be charged by North Strabane police with driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of a crash stemming from a one-vehicle crash Thursday in the 400 block of McDowell Lane. Police said his vehicle went over a hill and came to rest against two trees. He was taken to Canonsburg General Hospital where blood was drawn to determine his alcohol level. Two injured: Charles Davis, 27, of 2022 Pleasant Grove Road, East Finley Township, and passenger John Keenan Jr., 35, of 1544 Pleasant Grove Road, East Finley Township, were injured early Saturday in a one-vehicle crash on Boone Avenue. Davis told police he was traveling on Boone when a rear tire on his sport utility vehicle fell off, causing his vehicle to roll onto the passenger side. Keenan was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by township firefighters. Davis refused treatment at the scene. Keenan was taken to Canonsburg General Hospital. SOUTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP Probation violation: Christopher Amon, 30, of 147 Highland Ave., Claysville, was placed in Washington County Jail for a probation violation after South Strabane police saw him Monday in a parking lot at Trinity Point. Police say they recognized him from a previous incident when he gave the officer an incorrect name, prompting a charge of false identification to police. Police said Amon again gave police his brother's name before finally admitting to his true identity. He faces another charge of false identification to police. Escapes injury: State police said Kiley Szupenski, 27, of Propserity, escaped injury at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday when the vehicle she was driving was forced off Interstate 79 at the north junction with Interstate 70 by an extended-cab pickup truck that sped away. State police said Szupenski swerved her vehicle to get away from the pickup truck, which had entered her lane. Her car struck an embankment, heavily damaging the front end and frame of the vehicle. Both airbags were deployed, police said. The truck was white and had a toolbox-style cap on the back. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call police at 724-223-5200. UNION TOWNSHIP Jailed in assault: Robert W. Paul, 36, of 22 Kirchner Road, Union, was arrested early Monday by state police after he allegedly grabbed Melanie Fitzgibbon, shoved her down steps and then over a bird bath. He also reportedly kicked and punched his dog in its ribs. Paul was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of simple assault, harassment and cruelty to animals. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $2,500 bond. WASHINGTON Man jailed: Justin C. Whipkey, 21, of 1011 Orchard St., California, was arrested early Monday by Washington police after he allegedly fired three shots in the area of Jackson Street in Maple Terrace. Police say he threw the gun behind a metal box and ran. He was found hiding under steps at 672 Maple Terrace, police said. Whipkey was arraigned via video before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of carrying firearms without a license, reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence, criminal trespass and public drunkenness. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $10,000 bond. |
