Annual Art in the Garden to have works by 63 artists
This year, the Historical Society is returning to the format it used when it launched Art in the Garden in 1994 and making it a one-day event.
Original artwork from 63 artists will be available. Illustrator and fine artist David Bowers, who lives in Eighty Four, will be there, as will author Robert Trombetta, who documented Bowers' work in his book "David Michael Bowers: The Evolution of an Artist."
Live music and a kid's corner also will be in the mix. All proceeds benefit the Washington County Historical Society. For more information, call 724-225-6740.

The West Alexander Fair continues through Saturday with more food, rides, contests and entertainment.
Today, Cowboy Troy, a judge on the USA Network's "Nashville Star" series, will perform at 9 p.m. at the fair's grandstand along with the Wheeling, W.Va., country band Coaltrain. Contests built around eating hot dogs and ice cream and milk-chugging also are planned, along with a tractor pull at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Trucks, trolleys
event at museum
A Ford Dually, a Brill bus and a Studebaker Camp Pup will all be on display at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. as part of the 19th annual Trucks and Trolleys event.
Dozens of vintage trucks will be on display. It's sponsored by the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter of the Antique Truck Club of America.

Irish eyes smiling
at the Riverplex
All the O'Sullivans, Callaghans, McGowans and Ennises of the region will have a way to celebrate their ethnic heritage this weekend when the Pittsburgh Irish Festival comes to the Riverplex, near the Sandcastle amusement park and the Waterfront development in Homestead.
Musical entertainment will be happening almost constantly throughout the three-day festival, with multiple performances due from the bands Gaelic Storm, Glengarry Bhoys, Beoga and Pogey, among others. Food and drink, Irish artists and historians and an Irish dog tent will all be featured.

'Wicked' returning
to Benedum Center
After a sell-out run in Pittsburgh in 2006, the musical "Wicked" is returning to the Benedum Center and will be there through Oct. 5.
Based on a 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire, "Wicked" tells the story of the witches of Oz before Dorothy arrives on the scene. It's received 20 major awards, including a Grammy and three Tony awards, and continues to be a top-grosser on Broadway close to five years after its debut.
