Festivities feature fun
He had one of many of tents at the Krepps Covered Bridge Festival Saturday. People can attend bridge festivals throughout Washington and Greene counties this weekend as part of the 38th annual event.
Hickory United Presbyterian Church sponsored the Krepps festival as a fundraiser for the church's new covenant center. It's the fourth year the church has organized the event, which includes everything from pony rides to homemade food to a silent auction.
Stokum, of Cross Creek Township, has several different flutes at his tent. He said he starting playing them because of his interest in music and the American Indian culture. He met two American Indian flute players when he was in Crazy Horse, S.D.

Just down from his tent, children were riding ponies.
Six-year-old McKayla Stickley got to ride a pony named Reeses Cup twice.
"I like that horse," she told her grandfather, Carl Warrick, of Hookstown.
Debbie Rea, assistant treasurer for the church, said festival-goers could find all kinds of treats. She said the vendors rent the space. However, church members donate their time, crafts and foods to help make the festival happen, she said.
"So far, so good," she said Saturday afternoon. "The weather's been great. We're getting a pretty good turnout."
