Peters Twp. wins, improves to 4-0

Austin Hancock completed 10-of-18 passes for 132 yards and three touchdowns - two to Justin Simpson - as Peters Township stayed unbeaten with a 33-25 win over Indiana in a non-conference game.

Hancock threw two TD passes, one of which went to Brandon Hoffman, in the first quarter and one in the third as the Indians (4-0) built a 33-13 lead.

Andrew Erenberg also scored on a pair of first half runs for the Indians, while Simpson had five receptions for 88 yards to go with his two touchdowns.

Kyle Edgar, who had a first quarter rushing touchdown, tried to rally Indiana in the fourth quarter as his 11-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Stapleton with 3:20 remaining pulled the Indiana to within one score. But Peters Township ran out the clock from there.

Canon-McMillan 31, Butler 0

Chad Hagan and Mike Hull scored two touchdowns each as Canon-McMillan dominated Butler, 31-0, in a non-conference game.

Hagan rushed for 130 yards on 18 carries, while Hull, who also had 12 tackles, added 103 yards on 11 attempts for the Big Macs (2-2).

Zach Hoffman completed 8-of-17 passes for 118 yards for the Big Macs, who held a 359 to 81 advantage in total yards.

Butler (0-4) turned the ball over three times and managed just five first downs.

Jeannette 48, Waynesburg 6

Toddy Harris had a 72-yard touchdown run and a 40-yard interception return in the second quarter as Jeannette rolled to a 48-6 Interstate Conference win over Waynesburg.

Darius Brown, Demetrius Cox, Jason Edmunds and Matt Shrum also had touchdown runs for Jeannette (4-0, 4-0), while Chris Smith caught a 53-yard TD pass from Tom Paulone.

John Sinnott avoided the shutout for the Raiders (1-3, 1-3) with a 17-yard touchdown run with 1:07 remaining in the game.

Trinity 21, Elizabeth Forward 7

Andrew Steratore completed just three of his nine passes, but they went for 134 yards and two touchdowns as Trinity won its first game of the season, a 21-7 Big Seven Conference victory over Elizabeth Forward.

With the Hillers (1-1, 1-3) trailing 7-6 entering the fourth quarter, Steratore found Dusty Avolio for a 75-yard TD pass, and Joe Havrilak for a 52-yard scoring strike to give Trinity the lead.

Mike Preston, who had 13 carries for 108 yards, also scored on a 21-yard run in the first half for Trinity, which had 321 total yards.

Cory Sevcik put Elizabeth Forward (0-2, 2-2) ahead 7-6 in the third quarter with a 40-yard run.

Thomas Jefferson 41, Ringgold 7

Sam Johnson completed 10-of-19 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns as Thomas Jefferson blew past Ringgold, 41-7, in a Big Seven Conference game.

Johnson, who also threw three interceptions, completed seven of his passes for Jim Giansante for 174 yards, including a 59-yard TD hookup in the second quarter.

Ryan Ruffing also added a pair of touchdown runs for TJ (2-0, 4-0).

Alfon Cook had a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for Ringgold (0-1, 2-2), which turned the ball over four times.

Carmichaels 36, Mapletown 6

Anthony Farrar had 213 yards on 32 carries and scored three touchdowns as Carmichaels defeated Mapletown, 36-6, in a Tri-County South game.

Farrar scored on runs of 1, 45 and 7 yards as the Mikes (1-1, 1-3) held a 320 to 89 edge in total yards.

Jonathan Krall also added a touchdown run and a 25-yard touchdown pass to Seth Krall for the Mikes.

Jarrett Porterfield caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Cory Minnick for Mapletown (0-2, 0-4).

South Fayette 35, Sto-Rox 20

Christian Brumbaugh completed 13 of 27 passes for 203 yards and four touchdowns as South Fayette took control of the Century Conference with a 35-20 victory over Sto-Rox.

Brumbaugh hit Jeff Davis with a 27-yard scoring pass, Jonathan Gardner from 21 and four yards out, and Eric Myers from nine yards out as the Lions bolted to a 28-0 lead. Jeff Davis rushed for 84 yards on 22 carries and scored on a five-yard run.

Tanner Courtad and Zach Challingsworth each had a fumble recovery for the Lions (4-0, 4-0).

Paul Jones completed 17 of 28 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown for Sto-Rox (3-1, 3-1).

McGuffey 47, Brownsville 0

McGuffey unleashed a running attack on Brownsville's defense that produced seven touchdowns in a 47-0 victory in an Interstate Conference game.

Logan McAnany rushed for 90 yards on six carries and scored two touchdowns for the Highlanders (3-1, 3-1), who ran for 364 of their 368 total yards.

Tyler Kerns had 80 yards on seven carries and returned a block punt two yards for a score. Trenton Bedillion gained 67 yards on eight carries and a touchdown and Nick Shuman had 52 yards on nine carries and two TDs.

Brownsville is 1-3 in the conference and overall.

Monessen 35, West Greene 6

Terrance Stepoli completed seven of 11 passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns to lead Monessen to a 35-6 victory over West Greene in a Tri-County South Conference game.

Stepoli also ran one in from 50 yards for the Greyhounds (2-0, 2-2). Brett Crenshaw gained 75 yards on fiv carries and Trae Cook had 79 on seven.

Cody Jacobs scored for West Greene (0-2, 0-4) when he recovered a fumble in the end zone. Brent Sink led the Pioneers with 62 yards on 11 attempts.

In other games

Frazier defeated Avella, 28-2, in Perryopolis and Clairton shut out host Bentworth, 53-0, in Black Hills Conference game. Charleroi defeated South Allegheny, 29-3, in an Interstate Conference game.
