White wants probe of Hanover authority
State Rep. Jesse White on Thursday asked Pennsylvania Auditor General Jack Wagner to look into the accusations the authority has been paying the board chairman $20 an hour for consulting work, taking phone calls and attending meetings, White said.
"Whether or not these practices are permitted by the Municipal Authority Code, I honestly find this to be repulsive and unacceptable," White, D-Cecil, stated in a letter to Wagner.
White said the payments to Stephen Kladakis, chairman of Hanover Township Sewer Authority, were discovered by residents through Pennsylvania Open Records requests.

"The task of an appointed official is to serve the community, and these questionable expenses for services that appear to be a standard part of the job description raise serious concerns," White said.
Kladakis laughed about the allegations when contacted Thursday afternoon. He then declined to comment, saying he hadn't seen White's announcement.
Hanover is considering two options for a costly sewerage project that has been plagued by financial woes in recent months. The options include tapping into a wastewater plant in Burgettstown or constructing a new plant in Paris.
White said the board is disregarding the cheaper alternative of partnering with Burgettstown, with plans to construct a more than $13 million plant.
The new plant would result in 241 new customers receiving monthly bills of more than $80 a month.
White said he wants to see new sewers in the township but would prefer the board to be more open and accountable to the public.
He also has introduced bills calling for authority reform, including one that would permit the auditor general to conduct performance audits of them.

Shouldn't Rep. White be worried about passing the budget he claimed was passed two weeks ago? Talk about sticking your nose where it doesn't belong.
Really? Are You Serious? : 10/2/2009
One of our elected leaders steps up and takes on corruption on behalf of the taxpayers and you want him to stay out of it??? Are you serious, or are you making money from the Hanover Authority?
Hanover Township Serwer Authority : 10/2/2009
Yes, this does need be looked into. It's truly a shame of what is going on, they have not held anyone accountable for their errors and continue to just write checks without thoroughly thinking the entire ramifications it will cause. Our money can be used better in other ways! There is a serious problem with the Phase 1 installed sewage.

He needs to come to Independence Township.
