Sentencing for a former Canonsburg man convicted in August of molesting a girl two years ago was continued Wednesday. The girl, now 16, was 13 and was John Kowal's neighbor when the molestation began.
Sentencing was rescheduled for Nov. 8 to permit the Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment Board to complete its evaluation under Megan's Law.
Kowal, 48, of Creighton, Allegheny County, was convicted during a jury trial in Washington County Court on three counts each of aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault, six counts of corruption of minors and one count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.

Following the verdict, Kowal's work release privilege from jail was revoked. In April, Kowal was sentenced to 9 to 23 months in jail by DiSalle after Kowal entered a guilty plea to indecent assault for forcing a woman to have sex with him in 2005.
Kowal was referred to the Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment Board for evaluation under Megan's Law.
Firm charged with selling tainted meat
A trucking firm in Pittsburgh's Strip District was indicted this week on a charge of selling tainted meat to a discount grocer in Washington County.
American Dispatch Inc. was summoned Wednesday to appear in federal court Nov. 1 for arraignment on a charge of transportation and sale of adulterated meat, court records show.
The company was accused of delivering 2,814 pounds of hot dogs and bacon Sept. 29, 2005, to the grocer, which was not identified by the office of U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan.
The meat arrived at the store, but was intercepted and deemed unsafe by inspectors with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, said Buchanan's spokeswoman, Margaret Philbin. The store was not charged, and none of the meat reached the public, she said.
Thomas Goslin, president of American Dispatch, was unavailable for comment Wednesday, a company spokeswoman said.
If convicted, the company could be sentenced to between 1 and 5 years of probation and fined $10,400.

Parkway West work
to restrict traffic
Traffic traveling from the inbound lanes of the Parkway West to Interstate 79 south in Robinson Township, Allegheny County, will be shifted onto a temporary ramp beginning at 9 a.m. today.
As the shift occurs over the course of the morning, delays and brief traffic stoppages should be expected on the ramp.
The work is part of the $67.4 million I-79/Parkway West "missing ramps" project. The project will construct two ramps connecting I-79 to the Parkway West.
Construction will conclude in 2009. The prime contractor for the project is Balfour Beatty Construction Inc. of Canonsburg.
