We know that they're all about winning elections in Washington D.C.

But Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder may be taking that to the extreme.

The Redskins have put together a "Vote the Redskins Ticket" advertising campaign to push the team's fans to vote for the Pro Bowl online, placing signs all around FedExField.

The campaign has worked so well the league has stepped in to raise awareness about it with the league's other 31 teams, sending out an e-mail to them this week.

"As it stands right now, the Redskins are leading the NFC ballots in 16 of 19 positions," the e-mail said, according to the Associated Press. "It's no surprise, given that they have been promoting this all season long. ... This would be a great weekend to promote Pro Bowl voting to your fans. Let me know if you need any ideas or support from the league (or the Redskins) in this important initiative."

The NFL splits its voting for the Pro Bowl among the players, coaches and fans, with each accounting for one-third of the tally.

Some of the Redskins have built such big leads in the fan voting that even if they did not win the coach and player votes, they would make the Pro Bowl.

That wouldn't be such a bad thing if the Redskins were a great team. But, at 6-4 heading into this weekend's games, the Redskins are hardly that.

If the voting ended this week, eight of the 11 starters in the NFC on both offense and defense would be Redskins.

And to think that people were concerned about election fraud in the presidential race.

No. 1 with a bullet

The Steelers lead the NFL in sacks, pass, run and total defense.

No team has led the league in all of those statistics since the 1991 Philadelphia Eagles.

The Steelers have substantial leads in all of those categories except sacks. After getting just one in Thursday night's 27-10 win over Cincinnati, the Steelers hold just a one-sack lead over the Eagles.

Cowher to Cleveland?

Cleveland general manager Phil Savage has his own radio show and answers e-mails from fans during the team's games.

Sometimes, however, it's better not to be seen or heard.

Savage got himself into some hot water this week by telling a fan off in an e-mail during the team's win over Buffalo and while he apologized, that and Cleveland's disappointing season may not be able to save his job.

If Cleveland's ownership decides to get rid of Savage, it may decide to jettison head coach Romeo Crennel as well and start over.

If that happens, the next head coach of the Browns could be ... former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher.

Cowher won't take another head coaching position unless he can also call the shots as a general manager as well. Savage's outburst, which included a profanity, may make that possible in Cleveland, where Cowher began his coaching career and toiled as a special teams star.

Lots of miles

Today's game between the Tennessee Titans and New York Jets will match Kerry Collins against Brett Favre, two quarterbacks who have thrown for more than 100,000 yards combined in their respective careers. It's just the third time in league history that has happened in the regular season.

Favre holds the NFL record with 63,892 yards passing, while Collins has 36,472.

Favre will also be playing for a little more history in his storied career. Currently, he owns wins in 31 NFL stadiums, tying him with Dan Marino for that mark. But he's never won in Tennessee, losing there in 2001 with the Packers.
