This article has been read 1165 times.

No one was injured in a fire that gutted a home in East Finley Township Thursday night.

Claysville fire Chief Brad Simms said the state police fire marshal ruled the fire that damaged the home of Jay and Susan Plants, 209 Rock Hollow Road, as accidental. While the cause is not known, it is believed the fire started near the front of the one-story home.

Simms said two people were inside the house when the fire started just after 8 p.m. One of the residents saw the flames and tried to put out the fire.

Firefighters from South Franklin, Morris and West Finley townships and West Alexander assisted.

Simms said a tanker shuttle was used to haul water to the scene.

Firefighters were back at the scene at 5:17 a.m. Friday when the fire rekindled. Simms said there were a lot of voids in the roof because the home had been expanded over the years.
