Geneva women slip past W&J
The Washington & Jefferson College women's basketball team had a potential game-tying shot narrowly miss in the closing seconds and Geneva remained undefeated with a 48-46 win Wednesday night.
The visiting Presidents still had a chance to tie the score at the buzzer despite shooting only 33 percent from the floor and being outrebounded 38-28. W&J made just two of 13 shots from three-point range and Kennan Killeen and Maggie Gibson, two of the Presidents' leading scorers, were held to a combined six points.
Emily Hays led W&J (5-2) with 15 points while Maria Hillenbrand added seven points and five rebounds.

The game did not count toward the Presidents' Athletic Conference standings because of Geneva's NCAA Division III provisional status.
California 97, Lincoln University 54: Brooque Williams was dominant for California Wednesday night. Williams made 10 of her 11 shots from the floor and scored a game-high 24 points as the Vulcans easily defeated Lincoln University 97-54 in Lincoln.
Williams also grabbed eight rebounds and did all of her damage in only 23 minutes for California (5-2).
Lindsay Johnson had 21 points, including three three-pointers, and a game-high 11 rebounds for the Vulcans. Kayla Smith had 19 points for Call and Amber Dubyak added 10 in the win.
Tanina Cook made 10 of 11 free throws on her way to a 22-point night for Lincoln (0-5). DeJuanna Mosley had 13 points and Sharell McMillan added 11 in the loss.
California outrebounded Lincoln 50-31 and forced 38 turnovers.
Bethany 65, Waynesburg 47: Kelly Goode scored a game-high 19 points to lead Bethany to a 65-47 victory over host Waynesburg in a turnover-filled PAC game.
Bethany (1-1, 4-4) overcame 26 turnovers by using Goode's big game and getting 20 points form its bench.
Waynesburg (0-2, 1-5) lost for the fourth straight time. The Yellow Jackets committed a whopping 39 turnovers and were only 2-for-13 from three-point range. Four Waynesburg players scored eight points including Jeanette Wonsettler, who grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
Men's results
Geneva 79, Washington & Jefferson 69: Geneva College fought back from a 10-point deficit with 15 minutes remaining to earn a 79-69 victory over Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday evening.
Bryan Hill scored 26 points in only 21 minutes and made seven of 11 three-point field goals. Zac Northen sunk all six of his shots, made seven of eight free throws and scored 20 points for Geneva (4-3).
Albert Varacallo led the Presidents (3-2) with 22 points, Wahab Owolabi scored 18, Matt Drakeley added 11 and Adam Braithwaite chipped in a season-high 10. W&J, which made just five of 23 three-point attempts, overcame an early eight-point deficit to take a 35-30 lead at the half.
The game did not count toward the PAC standings because Geneva is a provisional member of the NCAA after its move from NAIA.
