High school wrestling

West Greene won 10 of 14 bouts on its way to a 51-16 win over visiting Fort Cherry in a Section 1-AA wrestling dual meet Thursday.

Dakota Riffle (112), Garrett Johnston (140) and Patrick Morris (171) all had pins for West Greene (3-1, 4-1), which won four bouts by forfeit and jumped out to a 51-3 lead.

Andrew Lucarini won by fall at 103 for Fort Cherry.

n McGuffey captured its first victory of the season, 58-21 over Peters Township.

Tyler Burkhalter (103), Alex Dunaway (119), Jake Szolek (135), Sean Sim (145), Nick Shuman (189) and John Leasure (Hvy) had pins for the Highlanders (1-2).

Mark Metzmaier (160) and Jerief Almnaizel (215) had pins for the Indians.

Men's basketball

Pat Byrne scored 15 points to lead five Muskingum College players in double figures during a 72-55 win over visiting Washington & Jefferson in a non-conference game Thursday.

Brandon Todd, Tyler Felt and Trevor Scott each scored 11 points and Jeremy Ady added 10 for Muskingum (6-2), which shot 45 percent from the floor and committed just five turnovers.

Albert Varacallo scored a game-high 17 points and Wahab Owolabi pulled in 10 rebounds as W&J (3-5) held a 39-25 edge on the boards. The Presidents, however, had 18 turnovers.
