Vulcans weather storm

California had to weather a big storm Saturday. Down 14 points in the first half and seven at halftime, the Vulcans rallied to outscore the Lake Erie Storm 30-10 in the second half to win 59-46 at Hamer Hall on Saturday.

Ron Banks led California (7-2) with 15 points and six steals. Alioune Mbaye added 14 points in the victory.

No player from Lake Erie (5-4) scored in double figures. Derrick Thornton led the Storm with nine points.

Marietta College 98, Waynesburg 85: Marietta College shot 52 percent from the floor, including 45 percent from three-point range, and defeated visiting Waynesburg, 98-85, in the Marietta Shrine Classic.

Nathan Edick drilled five three-pointers for 15 points and Isaiah Creasap sank 10 of 10 free throws on his way to 23 points to lead Marietta. Adam Rockhold registered a double-double for the Pioneers (3-7) with 19 points and a tournament-record 23 rebounds. Jordan Cox scored 13 points in the win.

Tim Drakeley led the Yellow Jackets (4-5) with 23 points despite fouling out. Josh Parisi scored 21 points, Dan Happe had 12 and Jarell Rodriguez added 10 points for Waynesburg.

Jared Gamble narrowly missed a triple-double for Waynesburg, with eight points, 11 assists and eight rebounds.
