California men stay unbeaten in PSAC
LOCK HAVEN - Senior Ali Mbaye scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds as California University remained unbeaten in PSAC West men's basketball play with a 72-64 win at Lock Haven.
Five of Mbaye's rebounds came at the offensive end of the floor as, despite making just two of 11 three pointers, California (3-0, 12-4) shot 54 percent from the floor against Lock Haven (1-3, 1-17).
Theron Colao added 12 points for the Vulcans, while James Hairston added 11.

Billy Arre led Lock Haven with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Denny Mortimer added 13 points, and Kelvin McLean 11, for the Bald Eagles.
Lock Haven made eight of 19 three pointers to keep things close.
Notre Dame (Ohio) 69, Washington & Jefferson 64: Notre Dame (Ohio) blew an 11-point lead in the first half and a 12-point advantage in the second but fought back to defeat visiting Washington & Jefferson 69-64 in a nonconference game Saturday at Murphy Gymnasium.
Notre Dame (10-11), an NAIA school, jumped out to a 20-9 lead but W&J (6-11) responded with a 13-1 run to take the lead. Notre Dame outscored the Presidents 17-10 the rest of the half to take a 38-32 lead into halftime.
After Notre Dame extended its lead to 48-36 early in the second half, W&J responded and eventually took a 59-58 lead with four minutes remaining. But Notre Dame rallied and regained the lead a minute later and hung on for the victory.
Josip Lucuc-Josak led the Presidents with 25 points and 12 rebounds, including eight offensive. Albert Varacallo scored 18 points for W&J and Brian Felker chipped in 10.
Dan Jones was 9-of-12 shooting for Notre Dame and finished with a team-high 21 points.
Thiel 80, Waynesburg 75: Thiel overcame a career-high 35 points by Trinity High School graduate Tim Drakeley to defeat the Yellow Jackets, 80-75, in a PAC men's game at Marisa Fieldhouse.
Forwards Joe Hermann and Tommy Hall combined for 50 points for the Tomcats (3-4, 7-9), with Hermann scoring 31 on 12 of 19 shooting, and Hall making eight of nine shots from the floor en route to 19.
Drakeley made eight of 11 three-point shots in the game, but the Jackets (1-6, 7-10) were outrebounded 40-21.
Josh Parisi added 18 points and six rebounds for Waynesburg.
Women's results
Washington & Jefferson 72, Chatham 43: Washington & Jefferson extended its winning streak to four with an easy 72-43 victory over Chatham in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game at Henry Menorial Center.
Jen Rogers scored a career-high 23 points for Washington & Jefferson (6-2, 13-4), who never trailed in the game. Rogers was 9-of-12 shooting and also contributed seven rebounds and two steals.
Though Chatham (2-6, 6-10) kept it close early, W&J took a 33-24 lead into halftime. A 9-3 run to start the second half gave the Presidents a 15-point cushion and W&J cruised the rest of the way.
Kennan Killeen added 10 points for W&J. Maggie Gibson had a game-high 15 rebounds for the Presidents, who outrebounded the Cougars 40-25.
Brittany Brown had 14 points off the bench for Chatham.
California 77, Lock Haven 46: Lindsay Jouhnson scored 19 points to lead five players in double figures as California University routed Lock Haven, 77-46, in a PSAC West women's basketball game.
Kayla Smith and Brooque Williams added 16 points each for the Vulcans, who improved to 3-0 in conference play and 16-2 overall.
Guard Amber Dubyak added 10 points and a team-high 11 rebounds for the Vulcans, who enjoyed a 42-25 advantage on the boards. Shaquetta Mance scored 12 points off the bench for California.
Lock Haven (0-4, 5-13) shot just 26 percent from the floor, making only 15 of 57 shots. The Golden Eagles were just seven of 32 from the floor in the first half, when California built a 42-21 lead.
Thiel 55, Waynesburg 50: Amber Bodrick scored 26 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked four shots as Thiel came from behind to beat Waynesburg, 55-50, in a PAC game at Marisa Fieldhouse.
Kim Stitt added 10 points for Thiel (4-4, 7-9), which trailed 26-20 at the half.
Elisha Jones scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Waynesburg (0-8, 1-16), while Waynesburg High School graduate Jeannette Wonsettler added 12 points, and Michaelene Jones chipped in 11 for the Jackets.
Thiel outscored Waynesburg, 35-24, in the second half and held a narrow 31-28 rebounding edge.
