Member of Greensboro Presbyterian Church
Uarda Grace Riffle, 94, of Greensboro, died Thursday, June 7, 2007, in West Bloomfield, Mich.
She was born August 2, 1912, in Uniontown, a daughter of Charles N. and Emmaline Adams Romesburg.

The Riffles moved to Greensboro in 1934, where they spent their married life together. Mr. Riffle died in 1992, after 58 years of marriage.
Mr. and Mrs. Riffle were avid gardeners and spent the fall canning and cooking things from their garden. They lived next to Greensboro and Monongahela Township Volunteer Department firehouse and for 50 years rang the siren that called volunteers to the fire station when needed. She was very proud of her many years of service on Greensboro Borough Council.
Mrs. Riffle also loved to care for her numerous grandchildren, nephews and nieces that would visit her home on the Monongahela River in the summer.
She was a member of Greensboro Presbyterian Church and Uniontown Chapter 263 Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are a son, Charles H. Riffle of West Bloomfield; a daughter, Beverly U. Seiders of Riverdale, Md.; five grandchildren, Kenneth L. Riffle, Michael W. Riffle, Marc L. Riffle, H. Joseph Seiders and Margaret Anne Seiders Beitzell; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three grandchildren, Robert H. Riffle, Robin L. Seiders and Valerie Riffle Miller; three brothers; and three sisters.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Yoskovich Funeral Home (724-966-5500), Martin J. Yoskovich, funeral director, 300 S. Vine St. (Route 88), Carmichaels, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, with Dr. Robert M. Randolph officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Mapletown. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a church or charity of the donor's choice. Uniontown Chapter 263 OES will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Mary E. McHaffie Finger
Member of Coraopolis United Methodist Church
Mary E. McHaffie Finger, 84, of Coraopolis, died Monday, June 11, 2007, in Beaver Medical Center.
She was born March 14, 1923, in McDonald, a daughter of Jesse L. and Edith E. Geiger McHaffie.
Her loving husband, Harvey E. Finger Sr., whom she married August 2, 1941, died April 19, 1979.
Surviving are her loving son, Harvey E. Finger Jr. of Midway; a sister, Carolyn Parton of Coraopolis; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are her children, George H., Mary C. and Rich A. Finger; and a sister, Edith Felton.
She was a member of Coraopolis United Methodist Church and Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 402.
She worked hard all her life. She had been a waitress for Palmer Restaurant in Jenkins Arcade and Gateway Center and for Riddles Belvedere Hotel.
She will be remembered by her family as a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Copeland's Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Avenue, where a funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 15, with the Rev. Thomas Petrosky officiating. Burial will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester. The family suggests memorials in her name to Alzheimer's Association.
Russell Campbell
WWII veteran was Corning Glass retiree
Russell "Red" Campbell, 90, of Bentleyville, formerly of Eighty Four, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 12, 2007, in the Mon Valley Hospital emergency room.
He was born December 11, 1916, in Linnswoods, a son of James and Mary Hogg Campbell.
Mr. Campbell was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the European Theater. He participated in five major campaigns including Normandy and Ardennes. For his service, he received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with five bronze stars, American Theatre Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal.
He had been a glassworker for more than 35 years with Corning Glass, Charleroi, before retiring in 1982. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.
Surviving are two sons, W. Russ Campbell of Bentleyville and Thomas L. Campbell and wife Sally of Bentleyville; a grandson, Patrick Bradshaw; a sister, Ruth Pigford of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are his wife, Alice R. Adams Campbell, who died January 3, 1997; a daughter, Patricia Ann Shaw, who died July 10, 1992; three brothers, Bob, James and Homer Campbell; and a sister, Betty Melville.
Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Ginger Hill.

John Whipkey, 90, of Aleppo Road, New Freeport, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, in his home.
He was born May 16, 1917, in Greene County, a son of Sam and Frances Whipkey.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Whipkey; two daughters, Betty (Gwin) Banks of Ohio and Janice (Ron) Hastings of West Virginia; a stepdaughter, Bonnie (John) Manning of New Jersey; two sons, Johnny Whipkey and Gary (Rhonda) Whipkey, both of Pennsylvania; a brother, Stoy (Twila) Whipkey of Cameron, W.Va.; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He also will be greatly missed by Janet Riley and Joseph Wood, who resided with him.
Deceased are a son, Sammy Whipkey; two sisters, Lena and Freda; three brothers, Fred, Warren and Paul; and two infant sisters.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Anderson Funeral Home, 39 Maple Avenue, Cameron, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, with Pastors David McCombs and Kenneth Curfman officiating.

Clara Anetta Reed
Member of Central Assembly of God Church, Houston
Clara Anetta Reed, 88, of Washington, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, in Donnell House, Washington.
She was born November 22, 1918, in Waynesburg, a daughter of Richard Goslin and Elizabeth Goslin Tucker.
Mrs. Reed was a member of Central Assembly of God Church, Houston.
She worked in sales for Horne's in downtown Pittsburgh, Peggy Ann Shop, Sol Mintz, as well as several other local clothing stores.
Her first husband, Merle Nuzum, died in 1972.
On January 24, 1975, she married William L. Reed, who died October 15, 1992.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph Nuzum and David Nuzum, both of Washington; two daughters, Charlene Paluda of Washington and Susie (Harold) Bowman of Canonsburg; grandchildren Mark Bowman, David John Nuzum, Robin (Brad) Acklin, Ken (Deanna) Nuzum, Darla (James) Mayble and Joe (Sandy) Nuzum; nine great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Albert and Ellsworth Goslin; two sisters, Emma Goslin Jefferies and Evelyn Goslin; and a grandson, Richard James Strope.

Former Washington woman enjoyed scrapbooking
Christina Ann Fowler, 44, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Washington, died Friday, June 8, 2007, in North Mountain Rehabilitation Hospice Facility, Phoenix.
She was born July 2, 1962, in Washington, a daughter of Jack L. and Nancy Tichnel Fowler of Washington. She moved with her parents and siblings to Marlboro, N.J., where she was a 1979 graduate of Marlboro High School. She later moved to Phoenix, where she has lived for the past seven years.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her sons and granddaughter. She enjoyed scrapbooking, collecting knick-knacks, crafts and reading.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Glyde.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are two sons, John F. Fowler of Phoenix and Joshua Rudner; a granddaughter, Aurora Fowler; a brother, Stephen G. (Michelle) Fowler of Herndon, Va.; two sisters, Cynthia Lynn (Jerry) Elaton of Burns, Tenn., and Marcie Jo (Howard) Dickholtz of Farmingdale, N.J.; and paternal grandfather Ernest Fowler of Washington.
James Zlemianski of Phoenix was her constant companion.
Deceased are maternal grandparents Willis and Anna Tichnel and paternal grandmother Ethel Fowler.

Caroline K. Gialas
25-year owner/operator of Caroline's Beauty Salon
Caroline K. Gialas, 82, of Belle Vernon, died Monday, June 11, 2007, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born October 8, 1924, in Stockdale, a daughter of Isidoris (James) and Eugenia Patricousis Gialas.
She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, Monessen, where she belonged to Daughters of Penelope, was an officer and member of the board of directors for many years, and was an active historian in the church. She also had belonged to the Eastern Star and numerous educational and professional organizations.
She was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where she obtained a bachelor's degree and two master's degrees.
She owned and operated Caroline's Beauty Salon in Stockdale for more than 25 years.
In 1970, she embarked on a second career teaching cosmetology at Western Area Vocational-Technical School for more than 25 years prior to her retirement. She was a beloved teacher of many students who continued to stay in touch with her.
She was active in the anniversary celebration for Stockdale Centennial Celebration.
She was the primary caregiver of her grandmother and namesake, Kalliopi Patricousis, who died in 1963 at the age of 116, and was the oldest living person in Pennsylvania at that time.
Surviving are a sister, Irene Gialas Retos of Washington; a brother, George J. Gialas of Cornwells Heights; nephews and nieces George, Gregory and Gary Retos, Karen Retos Demma, who is her goddaughter, and Victoria Gialas Aristoklis; grandnieces and grandnephews, Branden, Nicholas and Kassandra Retos, Michael and Maria Aristoklis and Mario and Mercyne Demma.
Deceased are two sisters, Mary Gialas Salidis and Angeline Gialas.

Former Hickory resident owned Millie's Beauty Shop
Mildred (Millie) Harrower, 81, of Strasburg, Ohio, formerly of Hickory, died Sunday, June 10, 2007, in Hanover House, Massillon, Ohio.
She was born August 8, 1925, in Bishop, a daughter of Joseph and Mary Murgel Rozanc.
Mrs. Harrower was the owner/operator of Millie's Beauty Shop in Hickory, until she moved to Ohio in 1994.
She was a member of Strasburg United Methodist Church.
Her husband, Alexander P. Harrower, died October 16, 1976.
Surviving are a daughter, Rosanna and husband William Baskin of Tampa, Fla.; a son, David and wife Deborah Harrower of Bolivar, Ohio; a sister, Isabel Casciola of Bishop; a brother, Rudy Rozanc of Fern Park, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters, Mary Lou Erbrecht and Theresa Arrigoni, and three brothers, Joseph, John and Richard Rozanc.
