BENTLEYVILLE – A family dog died Tuesday in a fire that gutted a house in Bentleyville.

Borough Fire Chief Ron Sicchitano Sr. said the blaze likely started in a faulty window air conditioner in the small house near Washington Street and Lackawanna Avenue.

Amy Harn and her children were not at their residence when the fire was reported about 3 p.m. at the one-story frame house. No one was injured battling the fire.

Firefighters from Cokeburg and Richeyville assisted at the scene.
