Carmichaels woman dies from accident injuries

A Carmichaels woman who was hurt in an April 6 automobile crash that killed two men died Thursday in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., from injuries she suffered in the accident.

Kaitlyn Machesky, 23, was traveling with four other Greene County residents to Deep Creek, Md., when the driver of the car, Blake Kelley, 24, of Mt. Morris, lost control of the vehicle on a curve. The vehicle crashed and overturned into a pond. Machesky, Kelley and Kenneth Opfer, 29, of Garards Fort, were trapped inside the car, while two other passengers managed to escape with minor injuries.

Kelley and Opfer were pronounced dead in a Maryland Hospital.

Machesky was rescued by Maryland state police and flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital.
