Ex-Pittsburgh councilwoman charged airfare after indictment Associated Press PITTSBURGH (AP) _ A former Pittsburgh councilwoman who is in jail for getting kickbacks charged two personal plane tickets to Las Vegas to her city credit card after she had already been indicted. Twanda Carlisle is serving up to two years in state prison for receiving more than $43,000 in kickbacks. City Controller Michael Lamb says he was shocked Thursday to receive an eight-month-old bill for the plane tickets to Las Vegas. Carlisle was arraigned in the kickback scheme in April 2007. Lamb says he will not pay the bill until he gets a guarantee from the city's Law Department that Carlisle will return the money.
According to the invoice, Carlisle flew to Las Vegas with her mother, Constance Parker. Parker says she doesn't recall the trip. ©2008 Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
