CRABTREE, Pa. (AP) — State police say a head-on crash in western Pennsylvania killed both drivers.
State police say 34-year-old Ryan Diehl of Roaring Spring was heading east in the westbound lanes of Route 22 in Salem Township, Westmoreland County. His car collided with a vehicle driven by 46-year-old Christopher McDermott of Prospect Park.
Police say Diehl was pronounced dead at the scene of the 1:46 a.m. Friday crash. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office says McDermott died shortly after 8 a.m. at UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.
Police say they are not sure why Diehl was in the wrong lane, and the investigation continues. Neither driver was wearing a seat belt.
