The FBI, state police and federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are in the Mon Valley and Fayette County, serving 61 arrest warrants for drug suspects.

The sweep is taking place in Monessen, Donora, Charleroi, Fayette City, Belle Vernon, Brownsville and Hiller.

The arrests culminate a two-year investigation into drug trafficking in those areas. The primary focus was cocaine and crack cocaine; however several investigations were conducted into the distribution of the illegal sale of pills and other drugs.

So far, 25 suspects have been apprehended. Some are being arraigned before local district judges, and others with federal warrants are being taken to U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh.
