PITTSBURGH (AP) — Federal attorneys want a judge to declare that Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Famer Mel Blount owes more than $631,000 in back taxes, interest and penalties.

The Internal Revenue Service filed a complaint in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh in September giving Blount 60 days to respond. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Pittsburgh on Thursday asked a judge to rule against Blount who hasn't filed a response to the lawsuit.

The IRS complaint says Blount owes the money for the years 1994 to 2006.

Blount has not responded to a call at the Mel Blount Youth Home, about 30 miles southwest of Pittsburgh. Court records don't list an attorney for him.

"EVERYONE" for years have overlooked his fiscal problems and given him a pass being politically correct. He filed bankruptcy 2 or 3 times prior to somehow coming up with the property in "T" town...He has been stealing from the non profits for years..The majority of the press can be blamed for not reporting the truth..

Can we say "above the law"? Is it because he's a sports figure? Or are we trying just SO hard to be PC???
