Ortiz, Red Sox slam Rangers
BOSTON - Slumping David Ortiz hit a grand slam, Daisuke Matsuzaka stayed unbeaten and the Boston Red Sox beat the Texas Rangers 11-3 on Friday night.
Dustin Pedroia hit his first homer, a two-run shot that capped Boston's five-run fourth inning. The Red Sox won for the sixth time in seven games.
Ortiz entered the game hitting just .111, the lowest of any regular in the majors. He went 2-for-4 with five RBIs. His grand slam was the eighth of his career, seventh with the Red Sox.

Matsuzaka (4-0) gave up three runs and five hits with two walks and four strikeouts in 51/3 innings. He labored through the first three, throwing 62 pitches, but held the Rangers to one run and two hits.
Cleveland 4, Minnesota 0: Cliff Lee pitched two-hit ball for eight innings, Casey Blake homered and had three RBIs, and the Cleveland Indians beat Francisco Liriano and the Minnesota Twins 4-0.
Lee shuffled among the disabled list, the minors and the Indians rotation last season, never finding his groove. He's on track this season, winning his first three starts with an ERA of 0.40.
Baltimore 8, N.Y. Yankees 2: Jay Payton and Melvin Mora had two RBIs apiece in a seven-run sixth inning, Daniel Cabrera took a four-hitter into the seventh, and the Baltimore Orioles beat the New York Yankees.
Detroit 8, Toronto 4: Edgar Renteria hit a two-run home run, Kenny Rogers won for the first time since July and the Detroit Tigers beat the Blue Jays, handing Toronto its sixth consecutive home defeat.
Chicago White Sox 9, Tampa Bay 2: Jim Thome hit his 511th career home run and Javier Vazquez won his third consecutive start to lead the Chicago White Sox past the Tampa Bay Rays.
National League
N.Y. Mets 6, Philadelphia 4: Johan Santana struck out 10 over seven innings, David Wright went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and the Mets beat the Phillies for the third straight time.
Milwaukee 5, Cincinnati 2: Ben Sheets dominated for five innings before a tight pitching arm forced him from the game, and Milwaukee held on to beat slumping Cincinnati.
Washington 6, Florida 4: Nick Johnson hit a three-run double and drove in four runs, helping Washington snap a three-game skid.
Longoria, Rays agree to $17.5M, 6-year deal: Rookie third baseman Evan Longoria and the Tampa Bay Rays agreed Friday to a $17.5 million, six-year contract, a deal that could be worth up to $44 million over nine seasons.
