Donald Crawford, formerly of Marianna, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, in Uniontown Hospital.

MARY ILLAR GASTE

Former Richeyville resident was avid walker

Mary Illar Gaste, 88, of Hertford, N.C., formerly of Richeyville, died at 10:58 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008, in W. R. Winslow Memorial Nursing Center in Elizabeth City, N.C.

She was born May 9, 1919, in Daisytown, a daughter of Louis Illar Sr. and Mary Fabian Illar.

Mrs. Gaste had been employed with dietitians in a Pittsburgh hospital prior to working in her family business, Roxy Theatre in Richeyville, and also very proudly worked as a welder during World War II.

She was a member of Daisytown Hungarian Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder, and also was very active in her community, working in the local elections, at the food bank and with Richeyville Volunteer Fire Department.

Mrs. Gaste loved to bowl and was such an avid walker, she was nicknamed "Road Runner" by her nephew, Joe Medve.

On September 14, 1940, she married Michael Gaste, who died January 26, 1999.

Mrs. Gaste was a lifelong resident of Richeyville until the death of her husband, after which she spent much time visiting her children. In 2006, she moved to Hertford with her daughter and son-in-law.

Surviving are two daughters, Annette Young of Hertford and Michele Nardizzi of Richmond, Va.; three granddaughters, Christine Longood of Richmond, Victoria Young of Chicago, Ill., and Nicole Pomeroy of Richmond; five great-grandchildren, Christian and Parker Longood and William, Nicholas and Jackson Pomeroy, all of Richmond; three nieces; four nephews; four great-nieces and their children; and five great-nephews and their children.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a brother, Louis Illar Jr.; and a sister, Helen Illar Medve.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where friends will gather at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, followed by services at noon in Daisytown Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Paul Minn officiating. Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.

DAVID H. HUTCHISON

David H. "Hutch" Hutchison, 55, of West Alexander, died at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 23, 2008, in his home, after suffering from a cancer-related illness since February 2007.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in West Alexander Presbyterian Church, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27, with the Rev. Keith Hornung officiating. Interment will follow in West Alexander Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to West Alexander Presbyterian Church, 108 Main St., PO Box 303, West Alexander, PA 15376.

enjoyed fishing, camping

Kenneth David Louttit Sr., 68, of Elizabeth Township, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, in Riverside Care Center, McKeesport.

He was born March 18, 1940, in New Eagle, a son of Harold and Genevieve Leach Louttit.

Mr. Louttit was a 1958 graduate of Monongahela High School and attended Drexel University in Philadelphia. He started his career with Peoples Natural Gas, but spent the majority of his career in construction, contracting and sales, where he often was self-employed. He also was a real estate agent for Howard Hanna Wilson Baum in McKeesport.

Earlier in his life, he was active in Civil Air Patrol in Rostraver. His hobbies included fishing, camping and boating.

Surviving are his beloved girlfriend, Jane Hart Blake of Elizabeth Township; five children, Kenneth Louttit Jr. of New Eagle, Michael Louttit of Murrysville, Kimberly Casteel of Finleyville, Eric Louttit of Seattle, Wash., and Ellen Louttit of Charleroi; four grandchildren, Christopher and Alexis Casteel and Cameron and Maya Louttit; a sister, Margene Wilczynski of Mt. Pleasant; and former wives, Myrtle Doenges Reinhard of New Eagle and Jan Langland of Charleroi.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, with the Rev. Michael Milinovich officiating. Committal services and interment will follow in Mingo Cemetery, Finleyville.

HARRY C. OLSON

WWII Army vet owned Olson Furnaces

Harry C. Olson, 84, of Pittsburgh, formerly of West Alexander and Mt. Lebanon, died Thursday, March 20, 2008.

Born February 22, 1924, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Oscar and Elizabeth Miller Olson; husband of Sallie Howe Olson; father of John (Moira Byrne) Olson of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kurt (Jan Orlando) Olson of Westfield, N.Y., Corinne Olson of Washington and Joseph Olson of Miami, Fla.; and grandfather of Eric and Brian Olson.

Deceased are a son, James Olson; and a sister, Anna Jane Baird.

Mr. Olson was a 1942 graduate of West View High School and attended Texas A&M for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He was in the "Fighting 69th" infantry division and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement during World War II.

He started his own business, Olson Furnaces Inc., designing and manufacturing industrial furnaces.

Mr. Olson was a Quaker and a member of the Friends meeting house in Oakland.

Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2630 West Liberty Avenue, Dormont. A memorial service will be held in the summer. LEONARD L. PLANCE

Member of Venice Presbyterian Church

Leonard L. Plance, 92, of Washington, formerly of McDonald, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, in Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg.

He was born March 14, 1916, in Burgettstown, a son of Newton and Nettie Allison Plance.

Mr. Plance was a farmer for Mayview State Hospital and enjoyed building grandfather clocks and playing bingo.

He was a member of Venice United Presbyterian Church.

On March 28, 1940, he married Sara Frances Kelso, who died January 28, 2007.

Surviving are a daughter, Sara Herriott (David) of McDonald; two sons, George E. (Patty) Plance of Richmond, Va., and Leroy (Ida Jane) Plance of Wellsboro; two brothers, Edward Plance of Washington and Edgar Plance of the state of California; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Deceased are a daughter, Bessie Virginia Riggs; three sisters, Mae Kelso, Dorothy Hobbs and Willa Jean Widget; and a great-granddaughter, Emily Kathleen McQuillan.

PATRICIA ANN TUSTIN

Self-employed beautician enjoyed traveling

Patricia Ann Tustin, 70, of Washington, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, with her family by her side.

She was born September 29, 1937, in Washington, a daughter of Edna McMillen and the late Eugene (Gene) Schott.

Mrs. Tustin was a member of Chartiers Cross Roads Presbyterian Church.

She was a self-employed beautician and also had worked for Kings Jewelry.

She enjoyed traveling, shopping, spending time with her grandchildren and her best friend, her mother.

Mrs. Tustin was a graduate of Chartiers High School and Mason Felix Beauty School.

On August 30, 1957, she married James L. Tustin, who survives.

For a brief time, she was married to Bill Mosko, whom she regarded as a special friend.

Surviving, in addition to her mother and husband, are a daughter, Toni Ricker of Washington; a stepdaughter, Brenda Kesneck of Washington; a brother, Dale Schott of Washington; a sister, Evelyn (Dolly) Oliverio and husband Louis of Houston; three grandchildren, Megan Berola, Joshua Ricker and Morgan Ricker; three great-grandchildren, Shylynn Hamilton and Mia and Caleb Gilpin; a stepgrandson, Coltin Kesneck; and several nieces and nephews, including Jason Oliverio.

Deceased, in addition to her father, is a daughter, Jaimee Ann Tustin.

Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. EDWARD R. WEEKLEY SR.

WWII Army veteran retired from J&L Steel Corp.

Edward R. Weekley Sr., 84, of Richeyville, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, in Canonsburg General Hospital, following a brief illness.

He was born April 13, 1923, in Rewton, a son of Charles Ray and Minnie Stutler Weekley.

Mr. Weekley was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, and had been employed by Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp. as an underground miner at Vesta 4 Mine for 19 years and later as a steelworker for J&L at Aliquippa Works for 20 years before retiring in 1980.

He was a lifelong member of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church of Richeyville, where he served as an usher for 12 years, and a member of Knights of Columbus Council 5826 of Bentleyville, Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post 705 of Centerville, where he served as commander for 13 years, and served as deputy commander of the 25th District for eight years.

Surviving are a son, Edward Weekley and wife Carol of Beallsville; two stepsons, Sylvan Pinto and wife Gloria of Greensburg and Perry Pinto and wife Dorothy of Washington; two stepdaughters, Donna Lee Kerestan and husband John of Fayette City and Linda Aaron and husband Wayne of Washington; a sister, Eunice Tyhonas of Beaver; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Mary Weekley, who died July 28, 1985; a daughter, Karen Marie Weekley; a grandson, Kevin Weekley, who died in February 2005; two sisters, Mary McCardle and Margaret Chambers; and two brothers, Edgar and Walter Weekley.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 28, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Richeyville, with the Rev. John Forbidussi as celebrant. Interment will be in Beallsville Cemetery. Full graveside military rites will be accorded by Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post 705 of Centerville.
