Mary Lou Jones Adams, 76, of Houston, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in her home, following a lengthy illness.

She was born June 10, 1931, in Bridgeville, a daughter of Titus and Buelah Wells Jones.

A longtime Canonsburg resident, she was a homemaker who enjoyed reading and working word puzzles.

Mrs. Adams was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Canonsburg.

She attended Bridgeville schools.

Her husband, Edward W. Adams, died September 1, 1988.

Surviving are six daughters, Phyllis Taylor of Oxon Hill, Md., Virginia Smith of Houston, Brenda Joyce Lacks (Larry) of Eighty Four, Patricia Adams and Donna Walker, both of Canonsburg, and Tina Adams of Houston; eight grandchildren, Adam Smith, Seamonee Smith, Marcus Taylor, Ashley Earle, Calvin Henderson, Caitlyn Henderson, Avery Adams and Joshua Lacks; a great-grandchild, Eden Earle; a sister, Betty Tomblin of Bridgeville; a brother, Howard Jones of Pittsburgh; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two sons, Warren and Dennis Adams.

David James Christ, 78, of Peters Township, died Sunday, April 13, 2008.

He was the beloved husband of Susan Christ; loving father of David James (Karen) Christ Jr. and Bonnie Sue Wilmont Bair; and grandfather of Wilmont David and Zachary Donald Bair.

Also surviving is his faithful companion, Molly.

Rebecca Downer, 54, of Monongahela, died Monday, April 14, 2008, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.

She was born January 20, 1954, in New Eagle, a daughter of Ardith L. Boyd Downer of Monongahela and the late Charles R. Downer.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Monongahela and attended Meadow Avenue School in Charleroi.

She loved her nieces and nephews, playing cards, country music and Barbies. She was an avid walker in her neighborhood and was friends with everyone she knew.

In addition to her mother, surviving are three sisters, Diana and husband Edward Avau of Monongahela, twin Ramona and husband Jim Koschak of Hutchinson and Cindy and husband James Tatar of Monongahela; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She also leaves behind all her skinny friends.

Deceased, in addition to her father, is a brother, Raymond "Butch" Downer.

Kevin D. Durbin, 35, of Waynesburg, died Monday, April 14, 2008, in Crucible.

He was born October 2, 1972, in Waynesburg, a son of Beatrice Toland Durbin of Waynesburg and the late Charles E. Durbin.

Mr. Durbin worked as a crane operator for Rohanna Iron and Metal in Waynesburg. He also worked for The Woods Cabinetry in Eighty Four for several years.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, pitching horseshoes and shooting pool.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are three sons, Jeremy Orndoff of Rogersville, Brentley Durbin of Crucible and David Warner of Waynesburg; three brothers, Roger Durbin of Waynesburg, Robert Durbin of Aleppo and Rodney Durbin of Jollytown; three sisters, Barbara Bird of Virginia, Pam Yeager of Ruff Creek and Rita Phillips of Eastview; two stepbrothers, Charles and Erving Durbin of Washington; a stepsister, Shelvie Durbin of Washington; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a brother, Charles I. Durbin.

Etta Bell Flickinger, 82, of McDonald, died Monday, April 14, 2008, in Canonsburg General Hospital.

She was born October 12, 1925, in Smith Township, a daughter of Charles William and Etta Johnson Foltz.

A homemaker, Mrs. Flickinger was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Bulger.

On March 18, 1966, she married Edward Earl Flickinger, who died August 20, 1996.

Surviving are a son, Charlie W. "Buddy" (Doris) Dhayer of Avella; two grandchildren, Dr. Eleisha (Todd) Nickoles and Jane (Michael) Bunts; and four great-grandchildren, Todd Jr. and Mariah Nickoles and Tyler and Lily Bunts.

Deceased are two brothers, Charles K. and LeRoy Foltz; a sister, Irene Barker; and two grandchildren, Elaina and Eric Kebert.

Donald L. Keener, 77, of Washington, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in Washington Hospital, following a very brief illness.

He was born November 11, 1930, in Washington, a son of Warren R. and Evelyn Main Keener.

Mr. Keener was a 1948 graduate of Washington High School and a graduate of Penn Commercial.

He was an accountant with Patch Dodge as well as various automobile dealerships throughout the area.

Mr. Keener was a member of Washington Elks.

He enjoyed golf and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

On October 15, 1951, he married Gale Conn, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Donald L. (Michelle) Keener Jr. of Claysville and Timothy W. Keener of Washington; a brother, Raymond Keener of Florida; four grandchildren, Kina R., Korey R. and Timothy W. Jr. Keener and Kressa A. (Butch) Dunn, all of Washington; two great-grandchildren, Taylor M. and Ethan L. Dunn of Washington; two nephews, Raymond and Richard; and a niece, Jan, all of Florida.

Thomas (Tom) Snyder Kemerer, 68, of Jeannette, died Monday, April 14, 2008, in Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville, with his family by his side.

He was born March 28, 1940, in Export, a son of Henry Wilson Kemerer and Alice May Weister Kemerer.

Prior to retirement, he was employed by Acadia Construction and Rimco Inc. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Jeannette American Legion.

He was an avid golfer and a dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan.

Mr. Kemerer is survived and will be sadly missed by his loving family, including his devoted wife of 44 years, Leona Kay Whipkey Kemerer; devoted son John E. Kemerer of Jeannette; three brothers, Chalmers Kemerer of Export, Warren Kemerer and wife "Inky" of Missouri and Arthur (Jeff) Kemerer and wife Gene of Ohio; two sisters, Katie Brinker and husband Tom of Delmont and Grace Ann Walker and husband Leroy of Missouri; a sister-in-law, Shirley Kemerer of Delmont; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.

He will be missed by two very special friends, John Blattenberger, and his mother, Kim Shannon.

In addition to his parents, deceased are two children, a beloved daughter, Deborah Alice Kemerer, and a beloved infant son, nicknamed Charlie Fred; two brothers, Albertiss (Jake) Kemerer and Dave Kemerer; a sister, Nancy Swanger; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Floyd and LaVina Finch Six.

Marguerite F. (Marge) McKnight, 86, of Washington, died unexpectedly at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday April 15, 2008, in Washington Hospital.

She was born November 22, 1921, in the Bridgeville area, a daughter of Thomas and Frances McCaffrey.

She lived the past nine years in Washington and most of her life in the Canonsburg area.

Mrs. McKnight was a well-known bartender and waitress for many years at Beechie's Place in Meadow Lands and Canonsburg Elks Lodge, among many other local restaurants and social clubs.

She was Catholic.

Mrs. McKnight was a member of Women of the Moose Chapter 318 and Arms Club, both of Washington, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg.

Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn (Don E.) Carter of Cecil; a son, William (Bill) Cook of Arizona; two grandchildren, Amy B. (Richard "Rip") Furda and Donn W. (Lisa) Carter; and three great-grandsons, Jeremy, Nicholas and Ryan Carter.

She will be sadly missed by her longtime friend, James Kubiak.

Mrs. McKnight was the last of her immediate family.

Deceased are two brothers, John and Bernard "Red" McCaffrey; and a sister, Rose Howard.

Donald Craig Mozingo, 36, of Nashville, Tenn., formerly of Wellsburg, W.Va., died Sunday, April 13, 2008, in Weirton (W.Va.) Medical Center.

He was born February 21, 1972, in Wellsburg, a son of the late Carl Mozingo Sr. and Lois Mitchell.

He also was preceded in death by his brother, Hank Mozingo.

Mr. Mozingo was a graduate of Brooke High School in 1990 and West Liberty State College in 1994, where he received a bachelor's degree in aviation science.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 101st Airborne Division.

Surviving are a sister, Judy Brownlee and her three sons, Matthew, Joshua and Justin Brownlee of Independence; and a brother, David Mozingo of Follansbee, W.Va.

WWII vet was Equitable Gas retiree, avid hunter

Armin R. (Bill) Price, 85, of Graysville, died at 9:30 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2008, in Washington Hospital, following a brief illness.

He was born April 6, 1923, in Metz, W.Va., a son of James Santford and Eva Lee Byard Price. He had resided in Waynesburg for several years prior to moving to Graysville in 1963.

Mr. Price was an avid hunter and enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren and the private truck rides with his pet dog, "Teddy Bear."

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a Tech 5 with the 819th Tank Destroyer Battalion.

Mr. Price was employed by Equitable Gas Co. for 34 years before retiring as a well tender in 1988.

On December 24, 1950, he married Norma Johnnette McClelland, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Armina "Minnie," wife of Kevin Carpenter of Holbrook; two sisters, Mildred McNett of Mather and Lillian Scott of Waynesburg; two grandchildren, Jason Carpenter and fiancee Melissa Lacko of Graysville and Justin, husband of Jessica Carpenter of Wind Ridge; three great-grandchildren, Sydknee, Mackenzie and Mason Carpenter; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two sons, John Leonard and Stephen Randall Price; four brothers, Burl W., Junior W., Curtis Sr. Price and Kenneth Efaw; and three sisters, DeEtta, Neva and Martha Price.

Bertha Willhoft Provance, 87, of Washington, formerly of R.D.5, Washington, died Monday, April 14, 2008, in Town View Nursing Home, Canonsburg.

She was born January 22, 1921, in Allison, Chartiers Township, a daughter of Frank Adolf and Mary Fashing Willhoft.

A homemaker and mother, Mrs. Provance was a former member of Broad Street Baptist Church, Washington.

She enjoyed cooking, being outdoors, flower gardening, raking and feeding birds.

In November 1938, she married Franklin Provance Sr., who died January 2, 2003.

Surviving are three sons, Franklin J. Provance Jr. of Dallas, W.Va., Claude F. Provance of Riverside, Calif., and Terry L. Provance of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Lorraine E. Provance of Washington; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Provance was the last of her immediate family.

Deceased are four brothers, James, Joe, Frank and Bill; and four sisters, Rose, Pauline, Molly and Elsie.

Milo Wayne Reid, 75, of Burgettstown, died Monday, April 14, 2008, in Weirton (W.Va.) Medical Center.

He was born February 18, 1933, in Ohio, a son of Mildred Wilcox Reid and stepson of Lyle Smith.

Mr. Reid retired as a mechanic from Stravaggi Industries in Weirton and Chemical Lehman Tank Lines and Ianettis Garden Center, both of Paris. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing lawn mowers in his garage.

He was a member of Paris Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mildred Lyons Reid.

Also surviving are four sons, Jerry Reid and wife Terry of Weirton, William Michael and Donald Michael, both of Paris, and Ronald Michael and wife Rose of Weirton; a bother, Jerry V. Reid and wife Carol of Lovelock, Nev.; a sister, Wiletta Reid of Lovelock; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a son, Milo Lyle Reid; three brothers, Jim, Raymond and Bernard Reid; and a sister, Nadine Majewski.

Raymond George Refosco, 72, of Bethel Park, died Monday, April 14, 2008.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean conflict, and enjoyed reading, gardening, golf and attending his grandchildrens' sporting events.

He was the loving husband of 51 years to Roberta Bowman Refosco; father of Bryan (Beth) Refosco of Peters Township, Craig (Diane) Refosco of Las Vegas, Nev., and the late Randy Refosco; father-in-law of Kathleen Refosco; brother of Joseph (Vi) Refosco of Jacksonville, Fla., Joanne (Bill) Lavorgna of McMurray, Lorraine (Mike) Collingwood of Canonsburg and the late Patricia Schollaert and David Refosco; and devoted grandfather of Brandon, Blane, Nicholas, Michael, Mitchel, Abigail, Lexie, Ciara, Sarah, Logan and Cole.

William G. Reggetz, 55, of Waynesburg, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in Respicenter West, Waynesburg.

He was born February 1, 1953, in Waynesburg, a son of the late William and Audrey Firestone Reggetz.

He was a graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School.

Mr. Reggetz worked as a deck hand for Mon River Towing and worked for several years for Central Cambria Drilling.

He was a member and past president of Construction Local 1846 of United Mine Workers of America District 5, past president of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 598 in Waynesburg, a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 461 in Waynesburg and was a social member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans in Waynesburg.

He resided most of his life in Jefferson and Waynesburg.

Surviving are two sons, Levon and wife Jodi Reggetz and Brian and wife Meranda Reggetz, both of Waynesburg; six grandchildren, Zjeb, Jolé, Macé, Brenen, Brittney and Bailley; and a brother, Paul Reggetz of Waynesburg.

Stanley "Kirby" Sabot, 86, of Springdale, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in his home.

He was born June 19, 1921, in Plum, a son of Peter and Anna Menda Sabot.

Mr. Sabot was a resident of Springdale since 1955.

He was a retired section forman and superintendent for Consolidation Coal for more than 40 years.

Mr. Sabot was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Coast Guard.

He was a member of St. Alphonsus Church in Springdale and United Mine Workers of America.

Mr. Sabot enjoyed fishing, golf, gardening and was an avid fan of the Pirates, Penguins and Steelers.

Diane Marie Currie Shaffer died at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, April 13, 2008, after a six-year battle with brain cancer.

She was born May 16, 1958, in Portage, Wis. She lived most of her childhood in Hookstown. After living in Pennsylvania for many years, she moved to Jacksonville, Fla., where she enjoyed walking on the beach, collecting shark teeth. She and her family finally settled in Naples, Fla.

She is survived by her husband, Allen Shaffer, whom she married January 12, 1976; two children, Christopher Shaffer and wife Lori and Carla Shaffer, both of Carmichaels; three grandchildren, Samantha, Logan and Alexis; her mother, Delores Currie Simmons and husband Gene of Beaver; two sisters, Sherry Currie of Seguine, Texas, and Louann Currie Niznik and husband Tom of Jacksonville; a brother, David Currie and wife Nancy of League City, Texas; and many nieces and nephews, who will remember her with love.

S. Elizabeth Wise, 66, of Washington, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, in Kindred Hospital, Oakdale.

She was born July 20, 1941, near Huntington, W.Va, a daughter of Bertran and Erma Callender Pace.

Mrs. Wise attended Washington High School and was a homemaker.

She was very active in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

On September 9, 1958, in Washington, she married Edgar Wise, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Thomas (Jamie) Wise of Harrisburg and Mark D. (Anna) Wise Sr. of Washington; three daughters, Karen (Jerry) Wilson of Washington, Paula Wise of San Diego, Calif., and Tanya Wise of Huntersville, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Lindsay, Brent, Brooke Marie, Mark David Jr., Joshua, Alexander and Zachary Wise; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Cleveland Road, Washington, with Elder James Duggan officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Directors Inc., Charles R. Piatt, owner/supervisor, and Lawrence K. Donovan, funeral director.
