MARY E. BINOTTO St. Benedict the Abbot Church member, homemaker Mary E. (Betty) Binotto 85, of McMurray, died Friday, May 9, 2008, in Donnell House, Washington. She was born May 20, 1922, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of John K. and Anna D. Gastel Wilkins. Mrs. Binotto was a graduate of St. Mary of the Mount High School. She was a loving mother, homemaker and worked for Dr. Thoma as an office assistant. Mrs. Binotto was a member of St. Benedict the Abbot Church, McMurray. She long will be remembered as a beautiful, kind and loving person who had a smile for everyone. On November 9, 1942, she married her beloved husband, John Binotto, who survives. She was the loving and caring mother of Larry Binotto of Bethel Park, Jeanine (William) Smith of McMurray, Gary (Pamela) Binotto of Venetia and John (Nancy) Binotto Jr. of Lawrence; grandmother of Staci and Erica Martin and Stephanie and Ashley Smith and Jennifer, Leah, Keally, Brianna, Johnny and Angelina Binotto; a stepgrandson, Brian Smith; and a great-grandchild, Ayrianna Binotto. Also surviving are a brother, Charles (Evangeline) Wilkins of Florida; a sister, Anne (Saul) Rubinoff of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a brother, Jack Wilkins. BURCH Teacher, Meals on Wheels provider and news reporter Loretta M. Burch, 96, of Carmichaels, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, in Assisted Living at Evergreen, Waynesburg. She was born August 22, 1911, in Brownsville, a daughter of Patrick A. and Mayme Campbell McGinty. Mrs. Burch was a 1929 graduate of South Brownsville High School and a graduate of California Normal School, now California University of Pennsylvania. She resided since 1948 in Carmichaels, where she was a member of Greene Valley Presbyterian Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and president of its Women's Association. Prior to the Church becoming affiliated with Presbyterian Church in America, she served as a trustee during the time of the merger of the area Presbyterian churches. Mrs. Burch taught at Brownsville Township Elementary School, Luzerne Township Elementary School and Carmichaels Area Elementary and Junior High Schools. She was a member of Pennsylvania State Education Association, National Educational Association and AARP. Mrs. Burch was a past president of Town and Country Garden Club and Business and Professional Women. She served on the site counsel as secretary of Carmichaels Senior Center and as a news reporter for Senior Times since 1977. Mrs. Burch composed and edited the Carmichaels Lions Club bulletin for more than 20 years and was a Meals on Wheels provider for a number of years. Her husband, Loman Russell Burch, died August 24, 1960. Surviving are a son, Kenneth P. Burch and wife Dianne of Catonsville, Md.; two grandsons, Jason L. Burch and wife Ann Wallace and Todd D. Burch and wife Chantha; four great-grandchildren, Molly, Abigail, Camille and Emilie; and a daughter-in-law, Catherine Burch of Carmichaels. She will be sadly missed by special friends Ed and Becky Chess and their family. Deceased are a son, Ronald L. Burch; a brother, James L. McGinty; and a sister, Ethel McGinty. He was born January 21, 1949, in Pittsburgh, a son of Pauline Poletz Huber of Elco and the late William T. Huber. Mr. Huber grew up in Elco and attended California High School, where he was president of his senior class. He was a 1971 graduate of Drexel University, Philadelphia, where he received his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. He was a member of Men's Glee Club and the lacrosse team and a founding father of a local chapter of Sigma Alpha Theta fraternity, which became Sigma Alpha Epsilon. In 1974, he received his professional engineer certification and held licenses in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, Utah and Colorado. He began his career in underground mining in Pennsylvania and advanced to mining operations in Virginia, Kentucky and West Virginia, serving as president at numerous coal mining companies. He was a member of Careers in Coal since 1990. He ended his career employed by Weir International Mining Consultants in Downers Grove, Ill., as a mining consultant. His love of music was evident when he performed in numerous church choirs including the Chancel Choir, New Life Singers and Grace Praise Team in Grace United Methodist Church. He also performed in community theater in London, Ky., performing in "Damn Yankees," "Music Man," "1776" and "Carousel." His love of children included activities as a soccer coach, a church youth mission leader and as a church league basketball coach. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Nancy Huber of Naperville, whom he married August 7, 1971; three children, Janine Garner of Indianapolis, Ind., Jonathan William Huber of Knoxville, Tenn., Dr. Kari Langley of Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren, Maggie Garner and Andrew Langley; two sisters, Paula Huber Anderson and Gail Abercrombie; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was born June 6, 1906, in McKeesport, a daughter of Martin and Mary Pavlov. Mrs. Kruppa was a member of Ave Maria Parish, Bentleyville, and Jednota. She was a seamstress for many years, having sewn many altar linens for the former St. Clement's Church. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Ann Kruppa of McMurray and Joseph and Shirley Kruppa of Crown Point, Ind.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Theresa Kudra of Bentleyville and Lucille and Fred Polesky of Moon Township; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was born February 27, 1925, in Indiana County, a daughter of Wendel P. and Della Manner Thompson. Mrs. Lettie was a secretary for Department of War during World War II and a former school board director. She retired from Rola Jensen. On February 15, 1944, she married George J. Lettie, who died May 8, 2004. Surviving are a daughter and two sons, Vicki Smith and husband David of Punxsutawney, James R. Lettie and wife Janie of Atlanta, Ga., and Blake R. Lettie and wife Mindy of Washington; six grandchildren, Richard Lettie, Christopher Lettie, Jamie Henretta, Dustin Lettie, Courtney Lettie and Stacy Swenney; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister, Robert Thompson of Denver, Colo., Harold Thompson of Creekside and Elaine Neigh of Dayton. She was born August 5, 1910, in Cherry Valley, a daughter of Thomas and Angeline Grossi. Mrs. Oblock was a member of Holy Child Parish, Bridgeville. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Her husband, John Oblock, died in 1970. Surviving are a son, Albert Oblock of McDonald; a daughter, Janet Oblock of Bridgeville; four grandchildren, Christina Soknich, Joann Della Salla, Susan Durham and Amy Hofbauer; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. ABATE member was avid Steelers fan William Thomas (Bill) Rodgers Jr., 48, of Milner, Ga., formerly of Canonsburg, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, from injuries he received in a motorcycle accident. Mr. Rodgers was born February 9, 1960, in Pennsylvania, a son of Susan Rodgers and the late William Rodgers Sr. He was Protestant. Mr. Rodgers was a 1978 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School and a graduate of Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He was a member of Griffin Moose Lodge, Windwalkers and ABATE of Georgia. He was an avid Steelers fan. He was honored by Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue in 2004 for his March of Dimes fundraising efforts. Mr. Rodgers was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Surviving are his wife, Teresa Rodgers of Milner; a son and daughter-in-law, Alex and Wanda Cleveland; a grandson, Alex "Little A" Cleveland Jr.; his mother, Susan Rodgers; a brother, Robert B. Rodgers; two sisters, Wendy M. Wise and Becky S. Duritza; a grandmother, Edna McCullough; and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18, in St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 135 North Jefferson Avenue, Canonsburg. A reception will follow in Jessop Club, Washington.
