HARRY R. BERTHOLD

Loving and devoted father, brother and son

Harry R. Berthold, 33, of McDonald, died Saturday, August 23, 2008.

He was the beloved son of Irene M. Lepro Berthold of Oakdale and the late Charles E. Berthold, who died January 5, 1990; loving companion of 15 years of Jennifer Albright and father of Hailey and Andrew Berthold, all of McDonald; brother of Vi (John) Kraszewski of Imperial, Marcella (Robert) Jones of Kennedy Township, William (Kara) Berthold of North Fayette Township, Lanean Berthold of Oakdale, Charles Berthold III of Bridgeville, Gertrude Berthold of Noblestown, Helen (Anthony) Stockham of West View and the late John C. Berthold.

Also surviving are his aunt, Beryle (Tony) DeSantis of Midway; mother and father-in-law Kathy and Robert Albright of Mt. Pleasant Township; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Berthold enjoyed building and carpentry.

He was a loving and devoted father, brother and son.

MILES DOAK

Homemaker, First Presbyterian Church member

Blanche Abigail Miles Doak, 91, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., formerly of Washington and Wheeling, W.Va., died Sunday, August 24, 2008, in Life Care Center, Hilton Head.

She was born January 4, 1917, in Marianna, a daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Rebecca Rice Miles.

Mrs. Doak was a member of Emmanuel United Presbyterian Church, Eighty Four, where she was very active and served as an elder and treasurer. She later became a member of First Presbyterian Church, Washington.

She attended Washington High School and was a homemaker.

On August 23, 1939, in Washington, she married Walter Glenn Doak, who died November 24, 1997.

Surviving are a son, Dr. W. Glenn (Ginny) Doak of Athens, Ga.; two daughters, Rebecca (Michael) Wiebe of Redwood City, Calif., and Nancy (Charles) Staab of Hilton Head Island; seven grandchildren, Brandon and Thomas Wiebe, Melissa Schafstall, Ryan and Nathan Doak, Melanie Ribar and Matthew Staab; four great-grandsons; and a brother, Halden Miles.

Deceased are a son, Robert Miles Doak, who died in infancy; four brothers, Nelson, George and Eugene Miles and Benjamin Franklin Miles, who died in infancy; and three sisters, Henrietta Elliott, Frances Murray and Edith Weaver.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, with Dr. W. Glenn Doak officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.

GEORGE NICHOLAS GEORGOPOULOS

Painter, business agent enjoyed wood carving

George Nicholas Georgopoulos, 83, of Washington, died Saturday, August 23, 2008, in Donnell House, Washington.

He was born June 21, 1925, in Greece, a son of Nicholas and Paula Gavalas Georgopoulos.

Mr. Georgopoulos came to America February 14, 1949.

On November 13, 1955, he was united in marriage to Esther Rozakis.

He was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Canonsburg.

Mr. Georgopoulos was a painter and business agent and worked for several local unions including 208, 327 and 6 for a total of 35 years.

He enjoyed wood carving and gardening.

Surviving are a son, Nicholas Georgopoulos of Florida; a daughter, Mary Paula (Jeffrey) Wheeler of Upper St. Clair; a granddaughter, Christina Lee (James M.) Perry of Canonsburg; a sister, Kaleope Bakeloute of Greece; and several nieces and nephews in the U.S., Greece and Australia.

Deceased are two brothers, John and Leo Georgopoulos; and three sisters, Kathryn Skalkos, Martisa and Arenthe Georgopoulos.

Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, and from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Tuesday, August 26, in All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 601 West McMurray Road, Canonsburg, with Father George L. Enjoyed playing darts, shooting pool

Paula J. Gore, 35, of Mt. Braddock, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2008, in UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was born March 23, 1973, in Connellsville, a daughter of Mirl and Lorraine R. Mego Gore, who survive.

Miss Gore enjoyed playing darts, shooting pool and riding motorcycles with her friends.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are a sister, Wendy J. Kroll and husband Frank N. II; maternal grandmother Helen M. Glass; aunts and uncles Robert Mego and wife Jean, Earl Mego, Kenneth Mego and wife Connie, James Mego and wife Loreen, Eileen Begovich and husband Rick, Carole Babyak, Martha Mego, George Glass and wife Cindy, Faye Linton and husband John, Sara Jobes and husband Ed and Dana Fetsko and husband Joe; and several cousins.

She also leaves many friends, including special friends Tammy and Brianna Youler.

Deceased are her maternal grandparents, Anna and Paul Mego; paternal grandfather Earl Gore; stepgrandfather George Glass; and an uncle, Paul C. Mego.

ESTELLE KALNICKY

Fallowfield Township

Estelle Kalnicky, 83, of Fallowfield Township, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2008, in Mon Valley Hospital.

She was born February 21, 1925, in North Charleroi, a daughter of John and Anna Gurnik Javornisky.

Mrs. Kalnicky was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Mon Valley Hospital Auxiliary and Senior Bowling League at Tan-O-Bell Lanes.

Upon graduating with Charleroi High School Class of 1944, she entered the Allegheny General Hospital Nursing Program, from which she was graduated in 1947. She went on to have a memorable 41-year career in nursing.

During her nursing career, she was the evening supervisor at Monongahela Hospital and was in charge of the progressive care unit at Mon Valley Hospital. She retired from nursing in 1988.

Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Andrew; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald D. and Nancy Kalnicky of Bethel Park; a daughter and son-in-law, Andrea Ann and Gene Russo of Fallowfield Township; three grandchildren, Jennifer DiPietrantonio and husband Theron and Jason Scott and Justin Michael Kalnicky; great-granddaughter Lairah DiPietrantonio; two sisters, Mary Visniski of North Charleroi and Alexandra Holovac of Palm Harbor, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are a brother, John Javornisky; and two sisters, Olga Halesky and Jennie Trenk.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Ed Melenyzer Funeral Homes Inc., 825 Fallowfield Avenue, Charleroi, and from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of services, Wednesday, August 27, in Grace United Methodist Church, Coal Center, with Pastor John Smith officiating. Former nanny retired

from J&L Steel

Marie Lombardo of California died Saturday, August 23, 2008.

She was born Sunday, April 1, 1923, in Daisytown, a daughter of George and Susan Duran Rapacs.

Mrs. Lombardo was a member of California Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and for several years was a nanny for families in the California area. She also was a retired employee of J&L Steel (Coal Division) where she worked in the pay office.

Her husband, Sam Lombardo, died December 23, 2003, after 58 years of marriage.

Surviving are her three children, Constance Barno and husband Robert of Stroudsburg, Darlene O'Neil and husband Jack of Coal Center and David Lombardo and wife Janet of Colorado Springs; six grandchildren, Stephen Barno and wife Melinda, Brian Barno and wife Mary Ann, Beth Ann O'Neil Goodwin and husband James, Kate Bauch and husband Robert, Sam Lombardo and Daniel Lombardo; and a great-granddaughter, Christine Marie Goodwin.

Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are a sister, Susan Zahara; and a brother, George Rapacs.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and until 10 a.m., the time of a blessing service, Wednesday, August 27, in Mariscotti Funeral Home Inc., Anthony N. Mary Louise Rizzo, 87, of Washington, died Saturday, August 23, 2008, in Hillcrest Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio.

She was born January 20, 1921, in Washington, a daughter of Gustav and Bessie Welch Bauer.

Mrs. Rizzo was Catholic and a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Washington. Her faith was very important to her.

She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are a son, Bernie J. (Pat) Rizzo of Rensselear, N.Y.; two daughters, Betty Ann (Bruce) Cohn of Highland Heights, Ohio, and Michele G. (Mark) Font of Aurora, Ohio; two brothers, George Bauer and Jim (Shirley) Bauer of Washington; two sisters, Margaret Citro of Morgantown, W.Va., and Delores (Reed) Gilmore of Washington; eight grandchildren, Matthew and Patrick Rizzo, Andrea Pfaffenbach, Adam and Erin Cohn, Jonathan and Jason Taus and Zachary Font; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Joseph John Rizzo, who died in 1996; a sister, Anna Bauer; and a brother, Charles Bauer.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington. WWII Army vet, co-owner

of Rohanna's Golf Course

Andrew Kalil Rohanna Jr., 80, of Waynesburg and Hudson, Fla., died Friday, August 22, 2008, in his home in Waynesburg.

He was born September 9, 1927, in Wayne Township, Greene County, a son of Andrew Kalil Rohanna Sr. and Gemelia Shahady Rohanna.

Mr. Rohanna was a 1947 graduate of Waynesburg High School and had attended West Virginia University.

Mr. Rohanna served in Japan with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was co-owner of Rohanna Iron and Metal and Rohanna's Golf Course in Waynesburg, where he lived all of his life.

He was a member of the Waynesburg Elks BPOE 757.

Mr. Rohanna was a member of St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Waynesburg.

On April 11, 1950, he married Rita Ann Butler, who died April 7, 2005.

Surviving are two daughters, Marcia Rohanna of Morgantown, W.Va., and Sharon Hall and husband Bob of Hudson, Fla.; six sons, David Rohanna and wife Demaree of Elkins, W.Va., Mark Rohanna and wife Terri of Waynesburg, Andy Rohanna and wife Patty of Graysville, Greg Rohanna and wife Mary of Jefferson, Darryl Rohanna and wife Linda of Waynesburg and Jeff Rohanna and wife Janis of Clarksville; 12 grandchildren, Aaron Rohanna, John Rohanna, Jim Rohanna and wife Amanda, Andrea Rohanna, Katie Rohanna, Ryan Rohanna, Matt Rohanna, Jordan Rohanna, Rebecca Rohanna, Jessica Hall, A.J. Klock and Grace Rohanna; a great-grandson, Caleb Rohanna; two brothers, Edward Rohanna of McMurray and Robert E. Rohanna of Waynesburg; a sister, Mary Wakim of Ashtabula, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are four brothers, Kalil Andrew Rohanna, Woodrow G. Rohanna, Joseph P. Rohanna and Isaac P. Rohanna.

FREDERICK ROGER TOST

Army vet, Allegheny Power retiree enjoyed flying

Frederick Roger (Fred) Tost, 73, of Canonsburg, died Saturday, August 23, 2008, in Allegheny General Hospital.

He was born August 20, 1935, in Plumville, a son of Frederick John and Sara Netta Wells Tost.

Mr. Tost graduated from Penn State University with a degree in electronic engineering.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Tost retired from Allegheny Power after 37 years as a supervisor of customer service.

He was a member of Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and usher.

Mr. Tost was selected and appeared in the 1965 "Outstanding Young Men of America" and was a member of Tau Epsilon Chi Honorary Society, Sunset Masonic Lodge 623 of Washington, Washington Jaycees (president, 1964), Washington-Greene County UPC (director, secretary and treasurer), Pennsylvania UCP (director) and Central Chartiers Valley Chamber of Commerce (Distinguished Member Awards 1987 and 1989).

He enjoyed flying, traveling, camping, golf, bowling and coin collecting.

On June 6, 1973, he married Carol A. Betarie, who survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Cheri L. (John) Duball of Washington, Kim J. (Ed) Strnisa of Hickory, Stacey A. (Morgan) Gray of Canonsburg and Lori A. (Lee) Hudzinski of Indiana; two sons, Joseph A. Simms of San Diego, Calif., and Brian R. Tost of Indiana; 12 grandchildren, Jonas, Sierra and Logan Gray, Olivia, Hannah and Juliet Duball, Austin, Travis and Evan Strnisa, Jordan and Tyler Hudzinski and Alex Tost; and a brother, Rodney N. Tost of Arizona.

Deceased is a sister, Shirley Morrison.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg (745-8120). Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Forest Lawn Garden Cemetery, McMurray.
