CLAUDE D. BARNHART
Claude D. Barnhart, 93, of Aleppo, died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2008, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg.
He was born August 18, 1915, in Aleppo Township, a son of Luther Oscar and Jessie Elizabeth Riggs Barnhart.
Mr. Barnhart attended Springhill Township schools in Greene County and resided in Greene County all his life.
He served with the U.S. Army with the rank of sergeant during World War II in the Pacific Theater with the 493rd Engineer Company.
Mr. Barnhart worked in the oil and gas field for about 20 years before working for Accurate Brass Corp. in Spraggs for nine years until his retirement in 1978.
He served as Springhill Township supervisor for six years and enjoyed playing pool.
Surviving are a half brother, John Barnhart and wife Martha of Champion, Ohio; a half sister, Dorothy Montecalvo and husband James of Washington; several nieces and nephews, including his caretaker, Carol Jacobs and husband Merrill of Holbrook; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, Charles, Lloyd and Raymond Barnhart; two sisters, Edna Plants and Naomi Hennen; and a half brother, Walter (Gene) Barnhart.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the hour of the service, Friday, September 26, in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville. The Rev. William L. Parker will officiate. Interment will follow in Thomas Cemetery, Springhill Township, with full military honors accorded by the U.S. Army, American Legion Post 330, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4793 and Disabled American Veterans Post 123, all of Waynesburg. WILLIAM J. DASCHBACH
Pennsylvania American Water retiree
William J. "Dasch" Daschbach, 71, of Bethel Park, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008.
After 43 years of employment, he retired from Pennsylvania American Water Co. as distribution superintendent.
He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Emily; father of William J. Jr. and Robert B. Daschbach; devoted grandfather of Jacob; and brother of Wilma Hubenthal, Elsie Weihaus and Joan O'Leary and the late Norman C. and Virginia Smith.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday in L. Wal-Mart retiree loved playing cards
Virginia L. Gray, 79, of Charleroi, formerly of Washington, died Wednesday, September 24, 2008, in Washington Hospital.
She was born October 26, 1928, in Marianna, a daughter of Taylor and Alice Loar Bice.
She was first married to Gene McDonough, who is deceased. She later married Fred Gray, who is also deceased.
Mrs. Gray was employed many years ago by Brockway Glass, was a waitress in Florida, worked for Mr. Donut on Murtland Avenue, Washington, and was employed at Wal-Mart, from where she retired. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Moose. She loved her cats and liked to play cards and read gossip magazines.
Surviving are a daughter, Sherry (Lee) Jones of Canonsburg; a stepdaughter, Venora Brouchun of Florida; two stepbrothers, Ronnie Gray and Daniel Gray, both of Florida; a sister, Mae Rutan of Washington; many nieces and nephews, including Betty and Jim Post; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Suzzane Ross; a son, Terry McDonough; a brother, Walter Bice; and five sisters, Katherine Sherman, Hazel Bice, Helen Reedy, Mary Alice Bice and Betty Burke.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Carolyn Racunas Puglisi, 73, of Hatboro, died Monday, September 22, 2008.
She was born in Pittsburgh, a daughter of William J. Racunas and Mary Jurgaitis Racunas.
Mrs. Puglisi was a homemaker.
She was the wife of 51 years to Donald F.; mother of Diane Madsen (Eric), Donald C. (Kim), Susan A., Stephen W. (Zoe), Gergory (Chris) and Ann LeFebvre (Bob); grandmother of 12; sister of Raymond R. and Robert V. Racunas; and niece of Stanley Jurgaitis.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 27, in St. John Bosco Church, 235 East County Line Road, Hatboro, followed at 11 a.m. by a memorial Mass. Interment will be held in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.

New Jersey homemaker
Rita B. Burke Schomp, 88, of High Bridge, N.J., died at 5:35 a.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2008, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg.
She had been in her usual health and was visiting her daughter, Jane, when she took ill and died of an apparent heart attack.
She was born November 14, 1919, in High Bridge, a daughter of William Burke and Elizabeth Tye Burke.
Mrs. Schomp was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, High Bridge, and was a homemaker.
Her husband, Emmit T. Schomp, died December 25, 1985.
Surviving are two daughters, Jane S. and husband John Owen of Waynesburg and Mary and husband Gene Dixon of Pitman, N.J.; a son, William and wife Nancy Schomp of Smithtown, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Jonathan Owen, Jill Owen, Jennifer Schomp, Kellie Schomp and Parker Schomp; great-grandson Ethan; and sister Mary Dalrymtle of Annandale, N.J.
Deceased is a sister, Helen Apgar.

CLYDE E. SMITH
Korean War veteran loved training and showing horses
Clyde E. Smith, 79, of Sycamore, died at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2008, in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., following a brave and courageous two-year battle with cancer.
He was a proud man determined not to give in to the disease he faced with dignity and grace until the very end.
Mr. Smith was born Monday, September 24, 1928, in Waynesburg, a son of Walter and Helen Miller Smith.
On June 13, 1959, he married Elizabeth (Betsy) King Smith, former postmaster of Sycamore Post Office, who died August 5, 1988.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Smith was known for his love of training and showing horses, working as a contractor and farming.
Surviving are a daughter, Jane and husband Kurt Lambeth, granddaughter Samantha Lambeth and stepgrandson Allen Lambeth, all of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Russell and Rex J. Smith.
He also leaves behind a dear friend and neighbor, Russell McCollum of Sycamore, companion and friend Norma Wright of Jefferson, his friends at Wayne Lumber Co. and many other supportive and loving friends in Greene County.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 26, with Pastor Randy Vincent officiating. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

EMMA ROSE HARVEY WINKLEBLECH
Emma Rose Harvey Winkleblech, infant daughter of Randy I. Winkleblech and Sara Harvey of Eighty Four, went to be with God Monday, September 22, 2008, 20 minutes after her birth, in Washington Hospital.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her paternal grandfather, Randy Winkleblech and wife Mary of New Eagle; maternal grandparents Mike and Cheryl Harvey of Eighty Four; paternal great-grandmother Anne Winkleblech of Eighty Four; two uncles, David and Jerry Winkleblech; and an aunt, Stacey Harvey.
Deceased are her maternal grandmother, Patricia Jankowski; paternal great-grandfather Laird Winkleblech; and maternal great-grandparents Glenn and Roberta Griffith.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kegel Funeral Home, Inc., Finleyville, Tim P. Kegel, supervisor.
She will be laid to rest privately with her maternal great-grandmother in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.

KATHERYN SVISTAK YEASH
Extraordinary wife, mother, aunt and friend
Katheryn Svistak Yeash, 84, of Camichaels, died peacefully Wednesday, September 24, 2008, in her home, following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 3, 1924, in Carmichaels, a daughter of Charles and Pauline Sabol Svistak.
On September 29, 1951, she married Edward G. Yeash Sr., who died June 22, 2000.
Mrs. Yeash was an extraordinary wife, mother, aunt and friend.
The family farm was home, and the door was always open.
Surviving are five children, Edward G. Yeash Jr. and wife Beth of Washington, Jerome A. Yeash and wife Alayne of North Miami Shores, Fla., Dr. James M. Yeash and wife Joan of Louisville, Colo., Marlene C. Walker and husband Cliff of Carmichaels and John W. Yeash and wife Lee of Lumberton, N.J.; grandchildren Capt. Edward G. Yeash III and wife Christina, Aimee Yeash Courture and husband Capt. James M. Couture, Michael Yeash, Anthony Yeash, Jerred Yeash, Ryan Yeash, Justin Yeash, Erik Yeash, Katheryn Yeash, Kevin Yeash and Claire Yeash; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Ava Yeash; and a sister, Julia Svistak Kerr of Carmichaels.
Deceased are four brothers, Charles, John, Frank and Michael Svitak, and three sisters Anna Svistak Mulik, Pauline Svistak Fudala and Mary Svistak Jurczak.
Mrs. Yeash was taken care of by her caregiver and best friend Bonnie Walker and Albert Gallatin Hospice.
Mrs. Yeash leaves to her family and friends a favorite poem:

Lesako, supervisor, 724-966-5100, where a prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 27, followed at 10:30 a.m. by a funeral Mass in St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, Carmichaels, with the Rev. John Bauer as celebrant. Burial will be in Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels.
