JEAN GORBY BEGLIN West Alexander native Jean Gorby Beglin, 81, of Washington, died at 9:20 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2008, in Donnell House, Washington, after a lengthy illness. She was born August 26, 1927, in West Alexander, a daughter of William Blaine Jr. and Ethel May Rhoades Gorby, and had been a resident of West Alexander all her life prior to moving to Buffalo Township in 1965. Mrs. Beglin had been a member of West Alexander Presbyterian Church for the past 80 years and was a Sunday school teacher for 25 years. She was a 1945 graduate of West Alexander High School and a graduate of Elliot School of Business in Wheeling, W.Va. Mrs. Beglin was a member of Evening Star Chapter 187 of Claysville, Order of the Eastern Star and the Interstate Horse Association. She enjoyed Penn State football, as well as the Steelers and the Pirates. She also enjoyed going to horse shows when her husband served as the ringmaster, and for 16 years she, along with her husband and daughter, attended the Preakness horse race in Baltimore, Md. In 1949, she and five high school friends represented the Claysville Grange in a national contest for choral singing groups in Sacramento, Calif., where they finished in first place. Mrs. Beglin was employed as a secretary by Jessop Steel Corp. in Washington for 25 years. Surviving are her husband, Ernest D. Beglin; a daughter, Lucinda Kerns of Centreville, Va.; a son, Dr. Randall (Barbara) Kerns of Charleston, S.C.; a brother, Dr. Donald (Dorothy) Gorby, of Naples, Fla.; a sister, Ann Gorby Church of Pittsburgh; and three granddaughters, Kaitlin Melissa Kerns of New York, N.Y, and Hannah Elizabeth Kerns and Alexandra Jean Kerns, both of Charleston, S.C. Deceased, in addition to her parents, are two brothers, William Blaine Gorby Jr. and Thomas Gorby. Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday in West Alexander Presbyterian Church, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, with the Rev. Keith Hornung officiating. Interment will follow in West Alexander Cemetery. Evening Star Chapter 187 of Claysville will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Monday in West Alexander Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are being handled by Lesako Funeral Home Inc., Carmichaels. *** ANTHONY JOSEPH DVORSAK WWII Army veteran was a bricklayer Anthony Joseph Dvorsak, 85, of Slovan, died Sunday, November 2, 2008, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 29, 1923, in Slovan, a son of Anton and Mary Pauchnik Dvorsak. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Dvorsak was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Burgettstown. Prior to retirement, Mr. Dvorsak was a bricklayer and builder. He was a member of Bricklayers Association, National Slovak Society, Frank Palombi Fan Club, Slovene National Benefit Society and Slovan Veterans of Foreign Wars Barto Post. Surviving are a son, John Dvorsak Jr. of Burgettstown; three daughters, Pamela (Charles) Tabone of Slovan, Annette (Joseph) Stefka of Slovan and Cynthia (Robert Triebsch of Slovan; eight grandchildren, Carleen Tabone, Chas Tabone and fiancée Val Loar, Ashley Bernardo and husband Brett, Logan and Alexa Triebsch and John, Jessica and Michael Dvorsak; two brothers, Anthony Dvorsak of Bulger and Robert Dvorsak of Baltimore, Md.; and four sisters, Mary McCombs of Florence, Francis Christle of Ky., Theresa Rozmus of Slovan and Cecilia Garritano of Slovan. Deceased are his wife, Eleanor Marie Raggi Dvorsak; a brother, James Dvorsak; and a sister, Batinich Polen. RICHARDS U.S. Army veteran enjoyed flea markets Michael D. Richards, 47, of Carmichaels, died at 5:20 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008, in the home of his brother in Morgantown, W.Va. He had been in his usual health, and his death was caused by an apparent heart attack. Mr. Richards was born Tuesday, May 30, 1961, in Waynesburg, a son of Sandra K. Main Richards of Waynesburg and the late Harry L. (Rich) Richards. He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army. Mr. Richards enjoyed doing puzzles and going to flea markets. He also enjoyed kids and was considered "uncle" to many people. He was a former construction worker. In addition to his mother, he is survived by three sisters, Cathi Richards of Waynesburg, Jeanie and husband Jeff Patton of Waynesburg and Peggie Richards of Vestaburg; a brother, Richard Richards of Morgantown; four nieces; and five nephews. Deceased is a brother, Mark D. Richards. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, the hour of services, in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L.
