Mary E. Hartley
Mary E. Hartley, 85, of Carmichaels, died at 6:10 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009, in her home.
She was born April 27, 1924, in Inglesmith, a daughter of the late James Oscar and Lula Robison Barnes.
Mrs. Hartley was a graduate of Everett High School and attended California University of Pennsylvania.
She served as an elder, Sunday school teacher, choir member and Bible class instructor at First Christian Church of Carmichaels.
Mrs. Hartley taught art and home economics at the Youth Development Center in Waynesburg until 1969. She and her son, Howard Hartley, owned and operated Flowers by Howard in Carmichaels from 1969 until 2003.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are a daughter, Marlene DeFrank and husband Ted of Rices Landing; two grandchildren, Candace Klimek and husband Scott and David DeFrank and wife Christina; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Paige DeFrank; a sister, Alverta Hall and husband Earl of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne M. Hartley; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her husband, Hartford D. "Hottsey" Hartley; a son, Howard D. Hartley; and a sister, Vada Morris.
Family and friends are welcome from noon to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, director, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 9, with the Rev. Reagan L. Fike and Pastor R. Scott Teets officiating. Interment will follow at Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either First Christian Church, P.O.
