Samuel R. Kerr Jr.
Samuel R. (Sam) (Sonny) Kerr Jr., 61, of Trees Mills, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2009.
He was born May 13, 1948, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Samuel R. and Eva Jean Kuhn Kerr.
Mr. Kerr recently retired from Dominion Transmission, formerly CNG, in Delmont.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Kerr was a member and past commander of Slickville American Legion Post 18 and a member of Delmont Volunteer Fire Department, Slickville Sportsman Club and New Alexandria Fireman's Club.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Kerr will be greatly missed by his loving family. He will be especially missed by his canine companion, Buddy, his boxer.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 41 years, Mildred "Dolly" Pekich Kerr; daughters Stacey Smith and husband Doug of Export and Michelle Christner and husband Jerry of Jeannette; and a special cousin, Chuck Craig.
He was the proud grandfather of Minna and Cody and proud great-grandfather of Dominick, who was his "little buddy."
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Vaia Funeral Home Inc., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 9, with Father Bob Popichak officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park. Full military honors will be accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 33 of Greensburg.
