Mary Costanzo

Homemaker worked as

assistant manager at Lang's

Mary Costanzo, 84, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Washington, died Thursday, July 2, 2009, in Southwest Veteran's Center, Pittsburgh.

She was born June 19, 1925, in Washington, a daughter of Pete and Agnes Shumar.

Mrs. Costanzo attended Trinity High School and was a homemaker. She was Catholic.

At one time, she worked at Lang's, where she was an assistant manager.

On November 3, 1946, she married James Paul Costanzo, who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Judith Ann Shapery of LaJolla, Calif., Pamela Sue Costanza of Apollo and Joni Lynne Schilinski of Hickory; a sister, Anne Forsyth of Palm Springs, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Thomas James, Kiersten Ryan and Steven William Schilinski.

Deceased are two brothers, John and Andrew Shumar; and two sisters, Dorothy Zahniser and Susan Davis.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m., the hour of a blessing service, Monday, July 6, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington. The family suggests memorial contributions to Forbes Hospice, 115 South Neville Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15213; or Southwest Veteran's Center, 7060 Highland Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.
