Harold Hunt
was retired mine electrician
Harold Hunt, 88, of Coal Center, died Thursday, July 2, 2009.
He was born Saturday, April 2, 1921, in Taylortown, Dunkard Township, a son of Floyd and Margaret Ross Hunt.
Mr. Hunt graduated from Point Marion High School and also from Michigan Technical Institute. He had attended California State College.
He served for four years as a corporal in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was retired from Robena and Maple Creek mines, where he was an electrician for 39 years. Upon retiring, Mr. Hunt loved to spend his winters camping in the Florida Keys.
Mr. Hunt was a member of California United Christian Church, Monongahela Valley Lodge 461 F&AM of California, Sons of the American Revolution of Waynesburg and California Area Historical Society.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Audrey Duvall Hunt; a son, Dennis Hunt and wife Ginny of El Paso, Texas; and a grandson, Ryan Hunt and wife Kristen, and great-grandson Preston Hunt, all of Belle Vernon.
In addition to his parents, deceased are a son, Darryl Keith Hunt, formerly of Fairbanks, Alaska, who died in 2003; two sisters, Jean Work and Virginia Molnar; and two brothers, Roger and Wayne Hunt.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Mariscotti Funeral Home Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, in California United Christian Church, with the Rev. Jana Quisenberry and the Rev. Norman C. Hunt co-officiating. Interment will follow in Howe Cemetery, Long Branch. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to California United Christian Church, P.O. Box 532, California, PA 15419.
