Former Washington County resident was homemaker

Phyllis J. Nelson, 78, of Venice, Fla., passed away Friday, July 3, 2009.

She was born April 3, 1931, in Queens, N.Y. She moved to Venice five years ago from Washington County.

Mrs. Nelson was a loving homemaker and a member of Venice Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her husband of 57 years, the Rev. Arthur W. Nelson; two children, Dr. Peter Nelson of Belle Vernon and Lesley Nelson of Washington; a sister, Janet Deremer of Sarasota, Fla.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 5, in Venice Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Venice Presbyterian Church Mission Program, 111 East Firenze Avenue, Venice, FL 34285.
