Olga K. Baggus, 84, of ManorCare Health Services, McMurray, formerly of Claysville, died Saturday, May 16, 2009.
She was born February 6, 1925, in Oakdale, a daughter of Anthony and Katherine Yanashik Kogut.
Mrs. Baggus was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Claysville, where she participated in the Ladies Missionary Society and choir and was a very active worker for the benefit of the church.
A 1943 graduate of Carnegie High School, she was employed as a nurse’s aide at Western State, Woodville and Mayview hospitals.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
In 1956, she married Edward James Baggus Sr., who died August 22, 1990.
Surviving are two daughters, April (Kenny) Georgetti of Avella and Traci Miller of Laurel, Md.; a son, Michael E. (Brenda) Baggus Sr. of Claysville; four grandchildren, Jason Keenan, Jennifer Conner, Michael Baggus Jr. and Brennan Baggus; and three great-grandchildren, Ian, Sierra and Aiden.
She had two brothers and six sisters.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Michael H. Heinrich Funeral Home, 219 Main Street, Claysville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 21. Interment will follow in Claysville Cemetery. Lorene M. Christy, 60, of Monongahela, died Saturday, May 16, 2009, in her home.
She was born November 23, 1948, in New York, N.Y., a daughter of Jack Berry, who survives and resides in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and the late Edith Pye Berry.
For 20 years, she worked as a case worker for Pennsylvania Dept. of Public Welfare throughout the Washington County area.
A 1967 graduate of Northeast High School in Fort Lauderdale, she was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Monongahela and enjoyed spending time reading and caring for her cats, Yoda, Abby, Smooch and Stewart Little.
Surviving, in addition to her father, are her husband, William Christy, whom she married December 3, 1994; a son, Joseph D. Ring and daughter-in-law Dawn Davis of Monongahela; a brother, Steven Berry of Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Darrian Wyandt, Chance and Braidy Ring; her husband’s children, Christopher Christy of Warrenton, Va., Tricia Celaschi and husband Ron of Belle Vernon and Haverly Ramaci and husband Jon of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and their children, Benjamin Ramaci, Gabrielle and Dominic Celaschi.
Deceased, in addition to her mother, is a brother, John Berry.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30, in St. Anthony Catholic Church, 225 Park Avenue, Monongahela with Father Joseph Feltz as celebrant. Former Dilliner and Carmichaels resident
Margery G. Copenhaver, 88, of Flat Rock, Mich., former longtime resident of Dilliner and Carmichaels, passed away quietly Friday, May 15, 2009, in Michigan.
She was born February 17, 1921, in Waynesburg, a daughter of Leonard and Gertrude Donham Garrison.
A member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Dilliner, she was retired from the former Bi-Lo Grocery Store in Point Marion, where she was a manager for many years.
She was a 1939 graduate of Point Marion High School, liked to sew and was an avid reader. She had spent the last several years in Michigan, enjoying time with her family and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are a son, Baird Kim Copenhaver and wife Michael Anne of Rockwood, Mich.; three grandchildren, Catrice Copenhaver, Mrs. Joseph (Corrie) Barron and Mrs. Douglas (Pili) Grafton; and two great-grandchildren, Avery Claire and Alex Michael Barron.
Deceased is her husband, Joseph Emory Copenhaver, who died July 18, 1969.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and until 11 a.m., the hour of services, Wednesday, May 20, in Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, with the Rev. Kenneth Haines officiating. Ruth Ann Davidson, 69, of Washington, died Saturday, May 16, 2009, in Washington Hospital.
She was born July 12, 1939, in Amwell Township, a daughter of Harry and Nellie Mae Reeves Crile.
Mrs. Davidson was a graduate of Trinity High School and worked as a selector/packer at Brockway Glass for 27 years.
She enjoyed gardening, playing softball and bowling.
Mrs. Davidson was a member of Lone Pine Christian Church.
On June 16, 1962, she married Harry W. Davidson, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kelly (Greg) Steranko of Houston, Texas; a brother, Paul Crile, and two sisters, Dorothy Jean Conkle and Mary Jane Crile, all of Washington; and three grandchildren, Chelsey, Joshua and Nickolas.

42-year Bethlehem Mines employee, UMWA member
Robert L. “Dusty” Iddings Sr., 80, of Marianna, died Sunday, May 17, 2009, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born June 6, 1928, in Marianna, a son of William and Marie Kelly Iddings.
Mr. Iddings attended Marianna schools and worked in Bethlehem Mines Corp. Mine 58 in Marianna for more than 42 years.
He was a member of United Mine Workers of America 2874, American Legion Post 744 of Marianna, Marianna Lyceum, Marianna Borough Council and Marianna Field and Stream Club.
Mr. Iddings enjoyed golf, bowling, hunting and fishing and played on the Marianna baseball team for many years.
On December 20, 1982, he married Thelma E. Higdon Serenta.
Surviving are a daughter, Anna Marie (Paul) Lemmon of Marianna and children Bettina, Angela and Dominic; a son, Robert L. (Cynthia) Iddings of Cocoa, Fla., and children Christopher, Kristin, Melissa, Brittney and Nicholas; a son, William Anthony Iddings of Titusville, Fla., and children, Stephen and Anthony; three stepchildren, Arthur Serenta III and children Arthur IV and Laura, Patricia (Michael) Milan and children Michael II and Tiffany, and Victoria Serenta Browning (Mickle) and children Callie, Kevin and Chance; six great-grandchildren, Anthony, Lexus, Natalia, Devin, Hunter and Rocco; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Anastasia, Brandon and Sophie; three brothers, George Iddings of Marianna, Wray Iddings of Washington and James “Jim Bo” Kelly of Caycus, Calif.; four sisters, Cindy Fetsko of Marianna, Kay Monica of Marianna, Myrtle Mathews of Zelienople and Audrey Knestrick of California; and his first wife, Anna Rossi Iddings of Florida.

Betty Forte Lambert, 66, of Bentleyville, died Sunday, May 17, 2009, in HCR ManorCare Health Services, McMurray.
She was born January 23, 1943, in Charleroi, a daughter of Mildred I. Haywood Forte of Ellsworth and the late Carmine F. Forte Sr.
Mrs. Lambert was a graduate of Ellsworth High School.
For several years, she was the tax collector for Bentleyville Borough and Bentworth School District and worked for the former Sheetz in Bentleyville.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Charleroi and the former Caramel Festival Committee.
Her husband, Harry R. (Pete) Lambert, died August 2, 2008.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are a son, David R. Lambert and fiancee Amy Moser of Ellsworth; a daughter and son-in-law, Danielle Renee and Joe Rusnak of Bentleyville; four grandchildren, David and Margaret Lambert and Joshua and Rylee Rusnak; a brother, Carmine “Sonny” Forte (Sandra) of Bentleyville; two sisters, Nadine Finn (Joe) of Mt. Joy and Lois Bertocci of Bentleyville; and several nieces and nephews.

Steve Malyuk
Well-known local gunsmith
Steve Malyuk, 88, of Finleyville, passed away Saturday morning, May 16, 2009, in Monongahela Valley Hospital.
He was born January 30, 1921, in Masontown, a son of John and Eva Mnahoncak Malyuk.
Mr. Malyuk graduated from Monongahela High School, Class of 1938, and from Pennsylvania Gunsmith School, North Side, Pittsburgh. He was a well-known local gunsmith.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in Europe and the South Pacific.
He worked as a welding instructor for U.S. Steel, retiring after 42 years of service.
Mr. Malyuk was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Monongahela, where he and his wife, the former Mary Krasnik, were married. On May 24, they would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
He was a member of Mingo Hunt Club and served as its president for more than 50 years. He was an avid hunter and had hunted on numerous Western trips, in British Columbia and Botswana, Africa, as well as traveling extensively, having visited Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Hawaii, Europe and South Africa.
Mr. Malyuk and his wife were blessed with two children.
Survivng are a daughter, Linda and husband Phil of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a son, Steven Malyuk and Casey Cole of Peters Township; two stepgranddaughters, Nicole and Alexis Fabian; and his sister, Mary Belic of Monongahela.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, children, extended family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, deceased are two brothers, Michael Malyuk and John Malyuk, who died in infancy, and a sister, Ann Holman.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. Homemaker enjoyed the outdoors, time with family
Jean Piktel, 85, of Brownsville (Centerville Borough), passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009, at home with her loving family by her side.
Mrs. Piktel was born July 2, 1923, in Granville, a daughter of Lucia and Augusta Polidori.
On September 2, 1946, she married Joseph Piktel Sr., who passed away October 2, 1996.
She was a homemaker, who always kept busy. She enjoyed being outside and working in her garden. Above all else, she cherished spending time with her family. Everything she did was done with her family, from walking the beach at the family vacation spot in Ocean City, to her very first plane ride with her daughter, Gloria, even to spending the day at Kennywood and riding roller coasters. For all of these experiences, she was surrounded by those she loved. She also enjoyed going fishing down at the river with her husband. She was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, whose sense of humor will never be forgotten.
Mrs. Piktel attended St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Brownsville.
Surviving are a daughter, Gloria Coffey of Brownsville; a son, William Piktel Sr. and wife Becky of Daisytown; three granddaughters, Ashley Coffey, Lindsey Coffey and Rachael Piktel Roberts; four grandsons, Robert Piktel, Brian Piktel, William Piktel Jr. and Joey Piktel; and three great-grandchildren, Peyton, Dominick and Jacob.

Julia D. Russell, 84, of Richeyville, died Saturday, May 16, 2009, in her home.
She was born November 25, 1924, in Daisytown, a daughter of Valentine and Anna Kabatko Mihalik.
Mrs. Russell was a 1942 graduate of California High School and had been a homemaker.
A lifelong member of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church of Richeyville, she was active in St. Agnes Ladies Guild and Catholic Daughters of America Court 1919, of which she was a former grand regent.
Surviving are two daughters, Bernice (Bernie) Russell of Fort Myers, Fla., and Patty Scatena and husband Jim of Ludington, Mich.; a son, Bernie Russell of Washington; two sisters, Mary Gaydosh of Uniontown and Anne Malik of Bentleyville; two brothers, George Mihalik of Warren, Ohio, and Albert Mihalik of Youngstown, Ohio; four grandchildren, Juli (Ryan) McGuire, Jim (Valerie) Scatena, Jesse Russell and Emma Grace Russell; four great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Russell was the heart of her family and loved being a mother and grandmother. She was happiest when her family was all together and she was cooking for them with love. She was rich with family and friends and will be sadly and greatly missed.

She was born August 21, 1928, in Ostmoorsee, Germany, a daughter of Gustav and Minna Hadeler Gerdes.
Mrs. Stanko worked at Hazel Atlas as a selector-packer, at JCPenney in security and at Marianne Shop.
On August 21, 1954, she married John J. Stanko, who survives.
Also surviving are a sister-in-law, a nephew and several nieces.
She was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased are a sister and two brothers.

(Chrissy) Ulrich and Carol D. (Frank) Sicilia; three brothers; six sisters; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her parents, Sarah Eouchenour Brown and Wilfred Bert Brown; first husband Henry G. Malesky; a brother, Wilford Brown; and an infant daughter, Renee Malesky.

Robert L. Iddings Sr.
42-year Bethlehem Mines employee, UMWA member
Robert L. “Dusty” Iddings Sr., 80, of Marianna, died Sunday, May 17, 2009, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born June 6, 1928, in Marianna, a son of William and Marie Kelly Iddings.
Mr. Iddings attended Marianna schools and worked in Bethlehem Mines Corp. Mine 58 in Marianna for more than 42 years.
He was a member of United Mine Workers of America 2874, American Legion Post 744 of Marianna, Marianna Lyceum, Marianna Borough Council and Marianna Field and Stream Club.
Mr. Iddings enjoyed golf, bowling, hunting and fishing and played on the Marianna baseball team for many years.
On December 20, 1982, he married Thelma E. Higdon Serenta.
Surviving are a daughter, Anna Marie (Paul) Lemmon of Marianna and children Bettina, Angela and Dominic; a son, Robert L. (Cynthia) Iddings of Cocoa, Fla., and children Christopher, Kristin, Melissa, Brittney and Nicholas; a son, William Anthony Iddings of Titusville, Fla., and children, Stephen and Anthony; three stepchildren, Arthur Serenta III and children Arthur IV and Laura, Patricia (Michael) Milan and children Michael II and Tiffany, and Victoria Serenta Browning (Mickle) and children Callie, Kevin and Chance; six great-grandchildren, Anthony, Lexus, Natalia, Devin, Hunter and Rocco; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Anastasia, Brandon and Sophie; three brothers, George Iddings of Marianna, Wray Iddings of Washington and James “Jim Bo” Kelly of Caycus, Calif.; four sisters, Cindy Fetsko of Marianna, Kay Monica of Marianna, Myrtle Mathews of Zelienople and Audrey Knestrick of California; and his first wife, Anna Rossi Iddings of Florida.

Betty Forte Lambert, 66, of Bentleyville, died Sunday, May 17, 2009, in HCR ManorCare Health Services, McMurray.
She was born January 23, 1943, in Charleroi, a daughter of Mildred I. Haywood Forte of Ellsworth and the late Carmine F. Forte Sr.
Mrs. Lambert was a graduate of Ellsworth High School.
For several years, she was the tax collector for Bentleyville Borough and Bentworth School District and worked for the former Sheetz in Bentleyville.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Charleroi and the former Caramel Festival Committee.
Her husband, Harry R. (Pete) Lambert, died August 2, 2008.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are a son, David R. Lambert and fiancee Amy Moser of Ellsworth; a daughter and son-in-law, Danielle Renee and Joe Rusnak of Bentleyville; four grandchildren, David and Margaret Lambert and Joshua and Rylee Rusnak; a brother, Carmine “Sonny” Forte (Sandra) of Bentleyville; two sisters, Nadine Finn (Joe) of Mt. Joy and Lois Bertocci of Bentleyville; and several nieces and nephews.

Steve Malyuk
Well-known local gunsmith
Steve Malyuk, 88, of Finleyville, passed away Saturday morning, May 16, 2009, in Monongahela Valley Hospital.
He was born January 30, 1921, in Masontown, a son of John and Eva Mnahoncak Malyuk.
Mr. Malyuk graduated from Monongahela High School, Class of 1938, and from Pennsylvania Gunsmith School, North Side, Pittsburgh. He was a well-known local gunsmith.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in Europe and the South Pacific.
He worked as a welding instructor for U.S. Steel, retiring after 42 years of service.
Mr. Malyuk was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Monongahela, where he and his wife, the former Mary Krasnik, were married. On May 24, they would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
He was a member of Mingo Hunt Club and served as its president for more than 50 years. He was an avid hunter and had hunted on numerous Western trips, in British Columbia and Botswana, Africa, as well as traveling extensively, having visited Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Hawaii, Europe and South Africa.
Mr. Malyuk and his wife were blessed with two children.
Survivng are a daughter, Linda and husband Phil of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a son, Steven Malyuk and Casey Cole of Peters Township; two stepgranddaughters, Nicole and Alexis Fabian; and his sister, Mary Belic of Monongahela.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, children, extended family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, deceased are two brothers, Michael Malyuk and John Malyuk, who died in infancy, and a sister, Ann Holman.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. Homemaker enjoyed the outdoors, time with family
Jean Piktel, 85, of Brownsville (Centerville Borough), passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009, at home with her loving family by her side.
Mrs. Piktel was born July 2, 1923, in Granville, a daughter of Lucia and Augusta Polidori.
On September 2, 1946, she married Joseph Piktel Sr., who passed away October 2, 1996.
She was a homemaker, who always kept busy. She enjoyed being outside and working in her garden. Above all else, she cherished spending time with her family. Everything she did was done with her family, from walking the beach at the family vacation spot in Ocean City, to her very first plane ride with her daughter, Gloria, even to spending the day at Kennywood and riding roller coasters. For all of these experiences, she was surrounded by those she loved. She also enjoyed going fishing down at the river with her husband. She was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, whose sense of humor will never be forgotten.
Mrs. Piktel attended St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Brownsville.
Surviving are a daughter, Gloria Coffey of Brownsville; a son, William Piktel Sr. and wife Becky of Daisytown; three granddaughters, Ashley Coffey, Lindsey Coffey and Rachael Piktel Roberts; four grandsons, Robert Piktel, Brian Piktel, William Piktel Jr. and Joey Piktel; and three great-grandchildren, Peyton, Dominick and Jacob.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a son, Joseph Piktel Jr.; and two brothers, Madeo Polidori, who was her twin, and Reo Polidori.

Mrs. Plants was a military wife who loved animals, flowers, cooking, her family and her country.

Julia D. Russell, 84, of Richeyville, died Saturday, May 16, 2009, in her home.
She was born November 25, 1924, in Daisytown, a daughter of Valentine and Anna Kabatko Mihalik.
Mrs. Russell was a 1942 graduate of California High School and had been a homemaker.
A lifelong member of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church of Richeyville, she was active in St. Agnes Ladies Guild and Catholic Daughters of America Court 1919, of which she was a former grand regent.
Surviving are two daughters, Bernice (Bernie) Russell of Fort Myers, Fla., and Patty Scatena and husband Jim of Ludington, Mich.; a son, Bernie Russell of Washington; two sisters, Mary Gaydosh of Uniontown and Anne Malik of Bentleyville; two brothers, George Mihalik of Warren, Ohio, and Albert Mihalik of Youngstown, Ohio; four grandchildren, Juli (Ryan) McGuire, Jim (Valerie) Scatena, Jesse Russell and Emma Grace Russell; four great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Russell was the heart of her family and loved being a mother and grandmother. She was happiest when her family was all together and she was cooking for them with love. She was rich with family and friends and will be sadly and greatly missed.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, is her husband, Bernard Russell, who died September 11, 1982.

She was born August 21, 1928, in Ostmoorsee, Germany, a daughter of Gustav and Minna Hadeler Gerdes.
Mrs. Stanko worked at Hazel Atlas as a selector-packer, at JCPenney in security and at Marianne Shop.
On August 21, 1954, she married John J. Stanko, who survives.
Also surviving are a sister-in-law, a nephew and several nieces.
She was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased are a sister and two brothers.

(Chrissy) Ulrich and Carol D. (Frank) Sicilia; three brothers; six sisters; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her parents, Sarah Eouchenour Brown and Wilfred Bert Brown; first husband Henry G. Malesky; a brother, Wilford Brown; and an infant daughter, Renee Malesky.
