Pete Borovich
Pete Borovich, 56, of Robinson Township, died Thursday, October 22, 2009, in his home.
He was born June 2, 1953, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Nick and Edna Ruth Couderc Borovich.
Mr. Borovich was a Fort Cherry High School graduate.
He was employed as a master pattern maker for Trinity Industries and Shenango Inc.
Mr. Borovich was a member of Montours Presbyterian Church.
He enjoyed working around the house and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Elizabeth Foley Borovich; a daughter, Brittany Nicole Borovich at home; sisters Constance Jean (Richard) Gilbert of Maryland and Judith Ann Schmac of Clinton; a brother, Jeffrey Allen Borovich of Bulger; several aunts and uncles; and mother and father-in-law L. Putnam and Betty Pershina Foley of Bulger. He was a loving uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Thomas-Little Funeral Service Inc., 314 West Lincoln Avenue, McDonald, where a service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 28. Former Green Tree resident
Ethel R. Breger, 90, formerly of Green Tree, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009.
She was the beloved wife of the late Andrew Breger, and mother of William (Terri) and Larry (Ruth).
Surviving are grandchildren Michael Withers and Michelle Watson and great-grandchildren Ryan, Lilly and Cameron.

Walter A. Danforth
WWII veteran was Mon River Towing retiree
Walter A. Danforth, 89, of Carmichaels, died at 6:15 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2009, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township, after a lengthy illness.
He was born February 10, 1920, in Rices Landing, a son of the late Walter R. and Ellen Neel Danforth.
Mr. Danforth was a graduate of Cumberland Township High School in Carmichaels.
He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II.
After the war, he worked for a short time for Crucible Fuel Co. mine and then worked most of his life on tow boats on the Monongahela River. He retired from Mon River Towing.
Mr. Danforth was a member of First United Methodist Church of Carmichaels and Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491 in Carmichaels.
He enjoyed gardening and nature.
On July 19, 1946, he married Gladys A. Cales, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Mark A. Danforth of Crucible; three grandchildren, Theresa M. Maskil and husband Walter, Clinton J. Danforth and wife Rhonda and Jeffrey Danforth and companion Patty; four sisters, Bernice Barnhart and husband Barry of New Stanton, Ellen “Corky” Carpenter of Waynesburg and Mary “Booty” Herilla and Judy Burkhart, both of Springdale; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Dennis (Denny) J. Danforth; two brothers, William Danforth and John Danforth; and a sister, Tillie Neal.
Family and friends are welcome from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of service, Saturday, October 24, in Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Mill worker was active with White Eagles Lodge
Edward J. Dombrowski, 87, of East Pitt Street, Canonsburg, died at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2009, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness.
He was born April 9, 1922, in Horning, a son of Kazmerz and Stella Sulkowski Dombrowski.
Mr. Dombrowski was a graduate of Canonsburg High School.
He was a member of the former St. Genevieve Roman Catholic Church, which is now St. Patrick Church.
Mr. Dombrowski was a mill worker for the former Pennsylvania Transformer in Canonsburg.
He was past president of White Eagles Lodge in Canonsburg for more than 20 years.
Mr. Dombrowski enjoyed gardening and going to auctions and flea markets.
On November 28, 1953, he married Helen Zawatski, who died July 23, 1997.
Surviving are a son, Edward J. Dombrowski; a daughter, with whom he made his home, Debbie (Tony) Verno, both of Canonsburg; two grandchildren, Adam Petras and Lauren Dombrowski; a brother, Charles (Jenny) Dombrowski; a sister, Emily Cwiklinski, both of Canonsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a son, who died at birth.

Stella M. Evans
Fashion Bug assistant manager enjoyed travel
Stella M. Evans, 79, of Houston, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009, in Washington Hospital.
She was born May 28, 1930, in Hickory, a daughter of Joseph and Anna Briggs Rea.
Mrs. Evans was an assistant store manager at Fashion Bug for 12 years.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, dancing and traveling to the ocean and beach. Most importantly, she was a wonderful mother to her children.
Mrs. Evans was Lutheran.
On July 7, 1947, she married Charles R. Evans, who died January 16, 1989.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph D. Evans of Washington and C. Keith (Kathi) Evans of Centerville; two daughters, Terri Evans (William) Brehler of Fernley, Nev., and Judith (Dale) Flowers of Canonsburg; a sister, Margaret Schofield of Hickory; and six grandchildren, Tara, Adam, Ethan, Sarah, Jesse and Amanda.
Deceased are a brother, Howard Bissett; and a sister, Virginia Arrigo.

Gilbert Anthony Friday
Retired pediatrician was professor, Navy surgeon
Gilbert Anthony Friday of Upper St. Clair died Thursday, October 22, 2009, after a lengthy and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
He graduated from Bucknell University in 1952 and Temple University Medical School in 1956.
After medical school, he served in the U.S. Navy as a flight surgeon.
Dr. Friday began his residence in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia with an extra year residency at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. He was in private practice in pediatrics from 1962 to 1963 and specialized in pediatrics, allergy and immunology from 1963, until his retirement in 2008. He held staff privileges at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh from 1962 until his retirement, serving as professor of pediatrics from 1987 until 2001.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Christina McShane Friday; their seven children, Martin (Janet), Peter (Susan), Martha (Michael) Cusick, Timothy (Clare), Amy (William) Zollars, Anne (Phillip) Beck and Robert (Susan); 20 adoring grandchildren, Sarah and Dylan Friday, Daniel Friday, Peter, Emma and Megan Cusick, Brian, David, Christina, Michael and Elizabeth Friday, Matthew, Cara and Callie Zollars, Margot, Heidi and Conrad Beck and Madeline, Julia and Luke Friday; and brothers Robert M. Friday and James E. Friday.

Victoria M. Golonka
Former Canonsburg Foodland employee
Victoria M. Golonka, 82, of Canonsburg, died on her birthday at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2009, in Kindred Hospital, Oakdale, following a brief illness.
She was born October 21, 1927, in Crabtree, Westmoreland County, a daughter of Walter and Josephine Kosharshy.
Mrs. Golonka was a graduate of Chartiers High School and lived most of her life in Canonsburg, where she was a member of St. Genevieve Church, which is now St. Patrick Parish, and it’s Christian Mothers and Guild.
She had been employed for 16 years at the former Canonsburg Foodland.
Mrs. Golonka loved polka dancing, bowling, being a TOPS member and spending time with her family.
On August, 25, 1951, she married John J. Golonka, her soulmate for the past 58 years, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kenneth Golonka of Canonsburg and Lawrence (Kimrlee) Golonka of North Hills; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two sisters, Ann Kraus and Agnes Dettore; and three brothers, Frank, John and Mike Kosharsky.
She was the last of her immediate family.

Hickory UP Church member was milk truck driver
LeDora Blanche Heinlein, 76, of McDonald, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.
She was born March 9, 1933, a daughter of the late John R. and Ethel Schierich Wood.
Mrs. Heinlein was a milk truck driver for Kimberland Dairy for 10 years.
She was a member of Hickory United Presbyterian Church and former member of Mt. Pleasant Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Heinlein enjoyed bird watching, reading and spending time with her grandsons.
She served as a deacon and was a choir member at Center United Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are daughters Lee Ann (Tall Wilison) Gardner of Avella and Shelly Heinlein of Hickory; grandsons Keith (Pam) Heinlein of McDonald and William Smith of Hickory; a great-grandson, Kameron Heinlein at home; and a sister, Esther (Clark) Marshall of Cranberry.
Deceased are her husband, Conrad Earnest Heinlein, who died in 1991; a sister, Jane Eckert Richmond; and a brother, Theo Zalaznik.

Andrew Kacvinsky
WWII vet was longtime coal miner, construction worker
Andrew Kacvinsky, 88, of Hendersonville, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009.
He was born February 11, 1921, in Hendersonville, a son of John and Mary Gondos Kacvinsky.
During World War II, Mr. Kacvinsky served as a crewman on an anti-aircraft as an artillery gunman. He received a Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal.
He worked as a coal miner and construction worker for Steelbuilt Construction located in Bridgeville for 29 years.
Mr. Kacvinsky lived most of his life in Hendersonville, where he was a member of the former St. Elizabeth Church and a member of Hendersonville Sportsmen Club.
On October 20, 1949, he married Antionette Bernardi, who died July 3, 1990.
Surviving are a son, Andrew J. (Cynthia) Kacvinsky of Washington; a daughter, Donna M. (Steve) Waffensmith of Washington; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three sisters, Mary Katrencik, Ethel Price and Margaret Pitts; and five brothers, Lewis, Joseph, Frank, Michael and Steve Kacvinsky.
He was the last of his immediate family.

35-year teacher was Clarksville tax collector
JoAnn M. Savage, 63, of Clarksville, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 21, 2009, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 30, 1946, in Masontown, a daughter of the late Steve and Anna Billak Caro.
Mrs. Savage was a 1968 graduate of West Virginia University.
She was a high school teacher for 35 years and held public office as Clarksville Borough tax collector for 25 years.
Mrs. Savage was a member of St. Thomas/St. Marcellus Roman Catholic Church and Ladies Guild of the church. She also was a member of Secret Sisters of Brownsville, Brownsville Education Association, PSEA, Mon-Valley Quilt Club and, at the time of her death, served on the Tax Assessment Board of Greene County.
Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Louis (Sam) Savage; a daughter, Jody Savage Palmer and husband Keith; a son, Stephen Savage; her pride and joy, grandson Cameron Palmer; two sisters, Stephanie (Bruce) Grandel and Ludmilla Caro; father-in-law Nick (Sharon) Savage; mother-in-law, Marie (Joe) Belsky; nephews Cory Grandel, Ryan Grandel, Nick (Marianne) Savage, Michael (Candy) Savage and Jason Savage; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She also leaves two very special friends, Terri and Carol.
