Lois Mae Cummins
Lois Mae Cummins, 78, of McDonald, died peacefully Thursday, October 22, 2009, in her home.
She was born January 8, 1931, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of William and Bertha Phillips.
Mrs. Cummins was a homemaker.
She enjoyed her family, reading, sewing, baking and gardening.
Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Robert Warren Cummins; two sons, Robert Geary (Tina) Cummins of Oakdale and Alan Reed Cummins of McDonald; a sister, Doris Grayzer of Upper St. Clair; and a grandson, Robert Sherman Cummins.
All services are private and under the direction of Nation Funeral Home Inc., McDonald.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Odyssey Hospice, 190 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.

Harry Paul Ervin
1947-2009
Harry Paul Ervin, 61, of Burgettstown, died Friday, October 9, 2009, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born December 5, 1947, in Atlasburg, a son of the late Albert and Gertrude Diley Ervin.
Surviving are five sisters, Mary (William) Weber of Burgettstown, Gloria (John) Pierce of Burgettstown, Clara (Lewis) Spiecker of Burgettstown, Mildred Allen of Burgettstown and Shirley (Rick) Hurtzler; a brother, Jim Ervin of Toronto, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two sisters, Ann Warwick and Nellie VanGorder; and four brothers, Louis, Montford, John and Albert Jr. Ervin.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 25, in Fairview Cemetery, Burgettstown.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lee & Martin Funeral Home, Burgettstown.

Gilbert Anthony Friday
Retired pediatrician was professor, Navy surgeon
Gilbert Anthony Friday of Upper St. Clair died Thursday, October 22, 2009, after a lengthy and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
He graduated from Bucknell University in 1952 and Temple University Medical School in 1956.
After medical school, he served in the U.S. Navy as a flight surgeon.
Dr. Friday began his residence in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia with an extra year residency at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. He was in private practice in pediatrics from 1962 to 1963 and specialized in pediatrics, allergy and immunology from 1963, until his retirement in 2008. He held staff privileges at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh from 1962 until his retirement, serving as professor of pediatrics from 1987 until 2001. He also served as president of the Allegheny County Medical Society, president of the Catholic Medical Association and chairman of the board of Blue Shield of Pennsylvania.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Christina McShane Friday; their seven children, Martin (Janet), Peter (Susan), Martha (Michael) Cusick, Timothy (Clare), Amy (William) Zollars, Anne (Phillip) Beck and Robert (Susan); 20 adoring grandchildren, Sarah and Dylan Friday, Daniel Friday, Peter, Emma and Megan Cusick, Brian, David, Christina, Michael and Elizabeth Friday, Matthew, Cara and Callie Zollars, Margot, Heidi and Conrad Beck and Madeline, Julia and Luke Friday; and brothers Robert M. Friday and James E. Friday.
Friends are welcome from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 26, in St. Thomas More Church, Bethel Park. Angeline Marie Kohring
Central Assembly of God founding member
Angeline Marie Kohring, 84, of Houston, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, October 21, 2009, in Henry Medical Center, Stockbridge, Ga.
She was born October 29, 1924, in Midland, Chartiers Township, a daughter of John and Constance Succoro Freno.
Mrs. Kohring had worked for Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA) during World War II and the former Bankert’s Bakery in Canonsburg.
She was a 70-year founding member of Central Assembly of God Church in Houston, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of Women’s Missionary Council.
On May 16, 1948, she married Frederick Charles Kohring of Canonsburg, with whom she celebrated 57 years of marriage before his passing February 2, 2005.
She enjoyed cooking and church activities.
Surviving are two sons, Karl E. Kohring (Pam) of Bridgton, Maine, and Robert J. Kohring (Lisa) of Stockbridge; a granddaughter, Katherine E. Core of Cecil; a great-granddaughter, Emma E. Adair of Cecil; and a sister, Mary Salituro (Vincent) of Springfield, Mo.
Deceased are a son, Fred W. Kohring; three sisters, Lucy Dudt, Jeanette Froment and Rose Minardi; and five brothers, Samuel, Anthony, Louis, Frank and Dominic Freno.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342. Florinda C. Perrone Celender McCarthy
Enjoyed children, bingo and camping
Florinda C. “Dolly” Perrone Celender McCarthy, 79, of Canonsburg, died Thursday, October 22, 2009.
She was born September 2, 1930, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Francis and Mary Cammuso Perrone.
Mrs. McCarthy was a member of the former St. Genevieve Church and currently a member of St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg.
She was also a member of Democratic Women, Canonsburg.
Mrs. McCarthy was an avid bingo player.
She enjoyed camping and being around children.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann (Thomas) Shinshasky of Canonsburg; a son, Jim Celender of Ginger Hill; six grandchildren, Scott (Janet) Celender, Jennifer and Jeffrey Shinshasky and Reggie, Frank and Joe Celender; a great-grandson, Casey Celender; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a daughter, Baby Linda Jean Celender, and two brothers, Joseph and Eugene Perrone.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, 412-221-3333. John S. Myers
Involved in Westmoreland and Pittsburgh jazz societies
John S. Myers, 78, of Greensburg, formerly of Ligonier, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009, in his home.
He was born April 29, 1931, in Washington, a son of the late John W. and Margaret Seaman Myers.
Mr. Myers was a member of First United Methodist Church of Greensburg.
He was vice president of Westmoreland Jazz Society and a member of Pittsburgh Jazz Society.
Mr. Myers was a retired longtime employee of the former Kings Nursery in Greensburg, Stewart Pharmaceutical Co. and Greensburg Garden and Civic Center.
Surviving are nieces and nephews Holly Mackey of San Antonio, Texas, Barbara Dull of Newnan, Ga., Nancy Epstein of Palm Beach Garden, Fla., Carol Mitterer of Schwenksville and David Myers of Kennett Square; and 11 grandnieces and grandnephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a brother, James E. Myers.
Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of services, Monday, October 26, in Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg, The Rev. Duane Morford officiating will officiate. Interment with full military honors will follow in Washington Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Westmoreland Jazz Society in Greensburg.

JoAnn M. Savage
35-year teacher was Clarksville tax collector
JoAnn M. Savage, 63, of Clarksville, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 21, 2009, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 30, 1946, in Masontown, a daughter of the late Steve and Anna Billak Caro.
Mrs. Savage was a 1968 graduate of West Virginia University.
She was a high school teacher for 35 years and held public office as Clarksville Borough tax collector for 25 years.
Mrs. Savage was a member of St. Thomas/St. Marcellus Roman Catholic Church and its Ladies Guild. She also was a member of Secret Sisters of Brownsville, Brownsville Education Association, PSEA, Mon Valley Quilt Club and, at the time of her death, served on the Tax Assessment Board of Greene County.
Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Louis (Sam) Savage; a daughter, Jody Savage Palmer and husband Keith; a son, Stephen Savage; her pride and joy, grandson Cameron Palmer; two sisters, Stephanie (Bruce) Grandel and Ludmilla Caro; a brother-in-law, Nick (Sharon) Savage; a sister-in-law, Marie (Joe) Belsky; nephews Cory Grandel, Ryan Grandel, Nick (Marianne) Savage, Michael (Candy) Savage and Jason Savage; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She also leaves two very special friends, Terri and Carol.
Deceased is a nephew, Jeffrey Savage.

Waynesburg man enjoyed raising cats
Paul B. Stanley, 38, of Waynesburg, died Friday, October 23, 2009, in Kade Nursing Home, Canton Township.
He was born April 20, 1971, in Uniontown, a son of Janet Morris Stanley of Rices Landing and the late Walter J. (Bud) Stanley Sr.
Mr. Stanley resided most of his life in Greene County.
He enjoyed raising cats and was known for his great sense of humor.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are three brothers, Walter J. Stanley Jr. of Waynesburg, James Eric Stanley of Uniontown and Keith Stanley of Waynesburg; several nieces and nephews; and a great-nephew.
