Lloyd V. Guild
Founder of SKC Inc.
Lloyd V. Guild, 89, of Peters Township, died Friday, October 23, 2009.
He was founder of the international business SKC Inc., a leading provider of environmental instruments promoting worker safety.
He was the beloved husband of Eleanor Guild and loving father of Richard L. (Lynah) Guild, Daniel L. Guild and Linda (Dennis) Lawler.
Also surviving are five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, Peters Township, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 28.

Anthony Marra
WWII vet active in Lions Club, Chartiers-Houston District
Anthony Marra, 93, of Houston, died Sunday, October 25, 2009, in Donnell House, Washington.
He was born Sunday, January 23, 1916, in Houston, a son of Joseph and Rose Marie Borza Marra.
Mr. Marra served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a lifelong resident of Chartiers-Houston School District and had served as a school board member for 40 years. He served in many capacities while on the school board, including president, vice president, treasurer and chaired and worked on many committees. The reason he served for so many years was because of his love for the children of Chartiers-Houston.
Mr. Marra had been a member of the Intermediate Unit 1 Board of Directors for the past 39 years and held offices of president, vice president and treasurer.
He had a great love for music and played bass fiddle and sang for many area bands. In 2008, Chartiers-Houston dedicated the elementary music wing in his name, naming it the Anthony Marra Music Suite.
Mr. Marra became a charter member of the Greater Canonsburg Lions Club in March 1953. Through the years, he served in all club positions, including secretary for 30 years. In 1961, he was elected the first district governor of Lions District 14M, serving in 1962 to 1963. He was responsible for the chartering of Hickory, McDonald and South Park Lions clubs. As a Lion, Mr. Marra was an international councilor and had received many awards including Ross F. DiMarco Fellowship, Melvin Jones Fellowship, International Leadership Medal, the International Presidents Medal and in 2005, the highest honor a Lion can receive, Ambassador of Goodwill – an international award chosen from 196 countries for which only 35 were given yearly.
He retired in 1981 from Columbia Gas, having started in sales and ended his career in the gas utilization department.
Mr. Marra also was a member of First United Presbyterian Church of Houston, Houston Independent Club, American Legion 902, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 and Keystone Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Judith Ann Zubert of Houston; five grandchildren, Lisa Bright (Scott), Shelly Armstrong (Scott), Heather Haas (Danny), Tiffany Porter (Todd) and Gina Ortalano; six great-grandchildren, Austin Armstrong, Isabella Armstrong, Annie Haas, Hannah Porter, Elizabeth Haas and Rocco Orltalano; and a brother-in-law, Edward Murphy of Washington.
Deceased are his wife, Anne Irene Murphy Marra; a son, Anthony Edward Marra; a brother, Louis Marra; and two sisters, Josephine Stanko and Mary Leitch.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor. Family and friends will meet for services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, in First United Presbyterian Church of Houston, Wednesday, with the Rev. Clarajean Haury officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray, with full military rites accorded by American Legion Post 902 and VFW Post 191. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Chartiers-Houston music department or Greater Canonsburg Lions Club. The Lions will hold services at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Army vet was former owner of the Dog House Restaurant
Evan Lee “Rocky” Richmond, 66, of Canonsburg, died Saturday, October 24, 2009, in Washington Hospital.
He was born November 11, 1942, in Washington, a son of Enlow Daniel “Jick” and Margaret Rose Morgan Richmond.
Mr. Richmond attended Penn Commercial after graduating high school. He worked at Jessop Steel, Timberland Restaurant and Friendship Village of South Hills and was the former owner of the Dog House Restaurant.
Mr. Richmond was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Houston American Legion.
He enjoyed hunting and shooting pool.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Andrews; two sons, Jason Evan Richmond of Bridgeville and Ryan Lee (Christine) Richmond of Edinburg, Va.; a stepson, David Andrews; a stepdaughter, Julie (John) Liles; a brother, Daniel M. (Iris) Richmond of Wellington, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Emilee M. Richmond, Chelsea Andrews, Christian Liles and Emma Liles.
Deceased are his parents, Enlow Daniel “Jick” Richmond and Margaret Rose Morgan Richmond.
