James M. Capenos

Member of Crossroads Church, Oakdale

James M. Capenos, 47, of Green Tree, died Friday, October 30, 2009, after a brief battle with cancer.

Mr. Capenos was an employee of Horizon Information Systems and was a member of Crossroads Church in Oakdale, where he was very involved in the sound for the church.

He was the loving father of Eric J. and Nick, both of Washington; stepfather of Stephanie Williams; son of Mary R. and the late Jack M.; and brother of Mark (Cindy) of West Newton and Paul of Green Tree. Also surviving are nephews and niece, Shawn, Jason and Kristin.

Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in William Slater III Funeral Service, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Township. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, in Crossroads Church, 1000 Crossroads Drive, Oakdale, PA 15071. Ferne Curran

Lifelong Washington County resident

Ferne Curran, 77, of North Strabane Township, a lifelong resident of Washington County, died Saturday, October 31, 2009.

She was born October 15, 1932, in Washington, a daughter of Johnny and Ethel Brown Cimino.

The loves of her life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband, Jack; two children, Jay Curran and Kathleen (Robert) Finn; five grandchildren, Rachelle (Brian) Edwards, Jonathan Curran, Brandon Curran, Katie Finn and Robert Finn; three great-grandchildren, Sydney Edwards, Jackson Edwards and Gage Curran; and several aunts, uncles and cousins, throughout the Washington area.

Deceased is a son, Michael Curran.

Friends welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 3, in St. Benedict the Abbott Church, McMurray. Interment in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, South Strabane Township. Mike Dayak

Retired shearman for Pa. Transformer

Mike Dayak, 90, of Muse, died Saturday, October 31, 2009, in his home.

He was born Monday, October 13, 1919, in Fayette City, a son of the late Charles Sr. and Anna Volosin Dayak.

Mr. Dayak was a member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Canonsburg.

Prior to his retirement, he worked as a shearman for Pennsylvania Transformer Co. and Chartiers Hill Church Cemetery.

Surviving are a son, Michael Dayak Jr. (Linda) of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Margaret Murray (Bill) of Danville, Va., and Bernie Klinger (Bob) of Muse; two brothers, George of Canonsburg and Frank of California; four sisters, Lib Distefano, Helen Bruce, Anna Dugan and Margaret Holston, all of California; four grandchildren, Melissa Layne (Anthony), Michael Dayak Jr., Matthew Dayak (Sarah) and Mindy Patterson (Timothy); and two great-grandchildren, Zachary Murray Bell and Gavin Patterson.

Deceased are his wife, Peg Dayak, who died December 26, 1997; three brothers Chuck, Pete and John Dayak; a sister, Mary Mandus; and two grandchildren, Amy Jo Bell and Shaun W. Murray.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, where services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, November 3, followed by Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. in St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Canonsburg, with the Rev. Joseph Jugan officiating. Panachida services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Walter W. Drabeck Sr.

Retired from Walt’s Garage

Walter W. Drabeck Sr. of Washington, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009.

He was born August 23, 1918, in Bridgeville, a son of the late Frank and Mary Shalbert Drabeck.

Mr. Drabeck worked in the coal mines as a young man. He later worked for Andy Brothers Tire Co., and W.O. Young Well Drilling and retired from Walt’s Garage.

In 1939, he married Edythe Miller, who died in March 1992.

Surviving are a daughter, Edith (Lee) Frazee of Washington, Utah; a sister, Delores Gerbliss of Canonsburg; a brother, Robert S. Drabeck of St. George, Utah; eight grandchildren, Lori Frazee Wolfe, Luanne Frazee Unger, Brenda Drabeck Griffin, Natalie Drabeck Confort, Tracy Drabeck Walker, Robert Drabeck, Douglas Drabeck and Cody Drabeck; 18 great-great -grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Deceased, in addition to his parents and wife, are sons Walter Drabeck Jr. and Richard Lee Drabeck; brothers Edward Drabeck and Frederick Drabeck; and a niece, Doris Jean Drabeck.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation. Interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Nichol Funeral Home, Washington.

Helen M. Ealy

Active member of Valley U.M. Church

Helen M. Ealy, 88, of Waynesburg, formerly of Graysville, died at 6:15 a.m. Sunday, November 1, 2009, in Golden Living Center, Waynesburg, after being in failing health for the past several years.

She was born December 23, 1920, in East Finley Township, a daughter of the late Albert Herman and Grace Theo Lydia Hewitt Wright.

Mrs. Ealy resided in Graysville for 47 years, prior to moving to Waynesburg in 2004.

She was a former member of Fairmount United Methodist Church in East Finley, where she served as Sunday school teacher and choir member. At the time of her death, she was a member of Union Valley United Methodist Church, where she had also served as a Sunday school teacher.

Mrs. Ealy enjoyed quilting as long as her health permitted.

On December 28, 1936, she married Howard Nelson Ealy Sr., who died February 14, 1966. She was later a longtime companion of Jack Barnhart, who died May 4, 2004.

Surviving are a son, Howard Nelson “Sonny” Ealy Jr. of Wheeling, W.Va.; two grandsons, David Nelson and Paul James Ealy; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Edith, wife of Howard Crouse of Graysville; a brother, Charlie, husband of Romaine Wright of Claysville; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, husband and companion, are three brothers, Herman, who died in infancy, Richard and Cecil Wright; two sisters, Nina Wright, who died in infancy, and Frances Bennett.

Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 5, with Pastor Sherry Cook officiating. Roger L. Haught

Former mechanic enjoyed cars

Roger L. Haught, 64, of Waynesburg, died at 12:05 a.m. Sunday, November 1, 2009, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Monday, March 19, 1945, in Centerville, Ohio, a son of the late Forrest Haught and Virginia Anderson Haught.

Mr. Haught was a lifetime resident of Greene County and was a member of First Christian Church of Waynesburg.

He enjoyed cars, spending time with his dog and going to flea markets.

Mr. Haught was a member of Moose Lodge 461 in Waynesburg, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4793 and James Farrell American Legion Post 330.

He worked for Jim Burns Exxon in Heidelberg and Waynesburg and then at Paul Howard Motors of Waynesburg. He later worked for Fox Transportation as a mechanic.

His wife, Helen June Rush Haught, whom he married Monday, December 30, 1963, died April 18, 2007.

Surviving are a daughter, Malinda and husband Michael Scott Gooden of Waynesburg; four sons, Roger “Bucky” and wife Melissa Haught of Canonsburg, Patrick and wife Cassandra Haught of Waynesburg, James and wife Lisa Haught of Carmichaels and Daniel Haught of Waynesburg; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack and wife Janet Haught of St. Clairsville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 3, with the Rev. William Sukolsky officiating. David Lee Jones

Retired U.S. Air Forcemaster sergeant

David Lee Jones, 67, of Crucible, died Sunday, November 1, 2009, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg.

He was born August 17, 1942, in Waynesburg, a son of the late William E. and Roberta L. McCann Jones.

Mr. Jones was a 1960 graduate of Cumberland Township High School.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam War and retired in 1982 at the rank of master sergeant with four Bronze Service Stars.

At the time of his death, he was athletic facilities director at Waynesburg University.

Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Sue White and husband Wilbur of Mather and Tammy Lynn Thomas of Browns Mills, N.J.; four grandchildren, Timothy J. White, David H. White, Brandon L. White and Kelly M. Thomas; a sister, Rose Maskil of Rices Landing; and a brother, Lee Jones of Crucible.

Deceased are two brothers, Robert and William Jones.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7 p.m., the time of service, Wednesday, November 4, in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Georgia F. Markham

Member of Mt. Zion Church enjoyed baking

Georgia F. Markham, 67, of Marianna, died at 11:40 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009, in her home, after being in failing health for two years.

She was born February 22, 1942, in West Bethlehem Township, a daughter of the late Quinlin Kenneth and Sarah Elizabeth Walcott Fulton.

Mrs. Markham resided in McKeesport from 1964 until returning to West Bethlehem Township in 1977. She was a 1960 graduate of Beth-Center High School.

She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Castille Ridge and a social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3419 in Carmichaels.

Mrs. Markham enjoyed cooking and baking.

She was last employed as an aide at the former Mayview State Hospital.

On June 9, 1964, she married Raymond Allen Markham, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Ronald E. Markham at home and David W. Markham and companion Karen of Marianna; a grandchild, Ryan J. Markham; a sister, Betty, wife of Jack Gower of Wilmington, Del.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, is a brother, Quinlin Kenneth (Kenny) Fulton Jr.

Jane Lynn Tillung

Former Harley-Davidson employee

Jane Lynn Tillung, 49, of Washington, died Saturday, October 31, 2009, in Greenery Specialty Care Center, Canonsburg.

She was born April 8, 1960, in Hermosa Beach, Calif., a daughter of Kenneth and Virginia Rasbid Tillung of San Pedro, Calif.

Ms. Tillung was a graduate of Rolling Hills High School in Ranco Palos Verdes, Calif.

She worked as a computer operator for a number of companies in California at the height of the dot-com era. In 2001, she moved to Washington and worked at the former Harley- Davidson shop on Henderson Avenue in Washington.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her fiancé, John Friend of Washington; a sister, Kathy McCall (Jim); a brother, Daniel Tillung (Tracy); nephews Kyle and Cory McCall and Clayton Tillung; and a niece, Megan Tillung, all from California.
