Paul Calabro
Paul Calabro, 83, of Canonsburg, died at 10 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2008, in his home, following a brief illness.
He was born August 28, 1925, in Muse, a son of Dominick and Frances Zampaglione Calabro.
Mr. Calabro lived his entire life in the Muse and Canonsburg areas.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Muse.
Mr. Calabro was a member of Independent Club, Muse.
He was a graduate of Cecil High School and attended welding school.
Mr. Calabro served with the U.S. Army Air Forces.
He had worked at H.C. Frick Coke Co. in Muse. Prior to his retirement, he owned Calabro Brothers Tire and Recap for many years.
Mr. Calabro was an avid golfer and was a member of the Golf Club of Washington since 1969.
On February 14, 1953, he married Alice Krezanosky, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Pamela (Anthony) Santoro of Alpharetta, Ga., and Polly (Terry) Nicola of Cranberry Township; three brothers, Carmen (Joan) Calabro of Washington, Frank (Janet) Calabro of Canonsburg and Anthony (Myrna) Calabro of Houston; a sister, Fortunata (Joseph) Compeggie of Canonsburg; four grandchildren, Angela and Gregory Santoro and Monica and Audrey Nicola; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a time to be announced Tuesday, December 2, in Holy Rosary Church, Muse, followed by interment in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.

Angelo Furia
Owner, operator of Furia Sanitation
Angelo (Geno) Furia, 83, of Greensboro, died Saturday, November 29, 2008, in his home, with his wife of 65 years and his family at his bedside.
He was born September 16, 1925, in Monongahela, a son of Italian immigrants.
Mr. Furia was a veteran of World War II.
He was the proud owner and operator of Furia Sanitation, now F & D Sanitation, which he founded in 1950.
In December 1943, he married Betty Phillips Furia, who survives, and settled in Greensboro.
In addition to his wife, surviving are a son, Bradley Furia of Long Island, N.Y.; a daughter, Janice Furia Dankovich of Greensboro; two granddaughters, Dr. Megan Dankovich Argentieri and husband Dominic of Washington, D.C., and Kristen Furia of Hazelton, W.Va.; a great-grandson, Bradley Geno Riggle, also of Hazelton; and a stepbrother, Joseph Augustine of Warren, Ohio.
Deceased are a grandson, Geoffrey Dankovich, formerly of Greensboro, and a sister, Clara Lamb, formerly of Galveston, Texas.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or services. A private service for the immediate family will be held in Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, followed by cremation. His remains will be scattered, as were his grandson’s, in the mountains they both loved. Those wishing to express condolences may do so with a memorial donation to Albert Gallatin Hospice or Greene County Humane Society.

Robert M. Keener
Robert M. Keener, 76, of Washington, formerly of Greene County, died at 6:55 a.m. Sunday, November 30, 2008, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and are being handled by Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Waynesburg. A complete obituary and arrangements will appear in a later edition.

Bernard James Kozak
Retired machinist, avid hunter and outdoorsman
Bernard James Kozak, 75, of North Strabane Township, died at 8:20 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2008, in his home with his family at his side.
He was born October 9, 1933, in Muse, a son of George and Kathryn Wallack Kozak.
Mr. Kozak was Presbyterian.
He spent all his life in the Muse-Canonsburg area.
Before retirement, he was a machinist at Industrial Gasket Plant, Meadow Lands.
Mr. Kozak was a member of National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Cannon; four sons, David A., James E., Donald W. and Jeffrey A. Kozak, all of Canonsburg; a daughter, Debbie A. Kozak of Canonsburg; a brother, George E. Kozak of Washington; a sister, Mary Mastrangelo of Muse; seven grandchildren, Michael, Jeffrey, Bernie, David, Joshua, Nicole and Beth Ann; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves a very special friend, Ron Hughes and his family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 3. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.

Blondena Summers
Church of Christ member
Blondena Summers, 93, of Washington, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2008, in Donnell House, Washington.
She was born August 17, 1915, a daughter of Serepta and William Tennant.
Mrs. Summers was the wife of Harold W. Summers.
She was a member of Church of Christ, Washington.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna Knox; four grandchildren, Kerry, Kenneth and Kevin Knox and Karen Clemens; 11 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Herbert, Cecil, Bill and Glenn Tennant; and a sister, Helen Valentic.
Deceased are her husband, Harold W. Summers; a son, Robert E. Summers; a grandchild, Dwayne Knox; and several brothers and sisters.
There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Donnell House, 10 Leet Street, Washington, PA 15301.
