Miles L. Bausch, 71, of Allegheny West, died Monday, December 1, 2008.
He was a son Frank and Orinda Bausch.
Mr. Bausch was a teacher at Trinity High School, where he taught business subjects.
He was an antiques dealer at Mahla and Company in the Strip District.
He was the loving brother of John Bausch of Venango; loving uncle of three nieces and a nephew; and loving partner of Doug Lucas.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Stephen M. Brady Funeral Home, 920 Cedar Avenue, Pittsburgh. Services will be announced at a later date.

Canonsburg resident was youth sports coach
David H. “Junie” Block, 71, of Canonsburg, formerly of Lawrence, died unexpectedly Sunday, November 30, 2008, in the Canonsburg General Hospital emergency room.
He was born Tuesday, November 2, 1937, in Cecil Township, a son of Herman and Grace Hohn Block.
Mr. Block had worked for Cooper Industries and St. Clair Country Club.
He loved everyone and was very active in sports. He coached youth sports including softball, baseball, basketball and football.
Surviving are two sons, David (Doris) Block of Canonsburg and Dana (Karen) Block of Washington; a daughter, Carrie (Tim) Block of Lawrence; two brothers, Dan Block of Canonsburg and Gary Block of Carnegie; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is his wife, Edna Snow Block.

August F. Hampson, 93, of Lawrence, died Sunday, November 30, 2008.
He was born Tuesday, January 19, 1915, in Reissing, a son of John Hampson and Elizabeth Tissur Hampson Valentino.
Mr. Hampson was a member of Fawcett United Methodist Church, where he was a trustee and treasurer of the Sunday school. He loved music and singing in the church choir.
Prior to retirement, he worked in maintenance at Western Center.
Surviving are a son, August Hampson (Barbara) of Johnstown; two sisters, Marie Kouche of Strabane and Leona Smith of Summerville, S.C.; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are his wife, Marjorie Kirkpatrick Hampson; a daughter, Darlene Coleman; two brothers, John R. Hampson Sr. and Joseph G. Valentino; and a sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Long.
At the request of Mr. Hampson, there will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be announced at a later date, and burial will be in Melrose Cemetery, Bridgeville. Kenneth H. Harvey, 87, of Canonsburg, died Saturday, November 29, 2008, in Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.
He was born April 24, 1921, in Wellsburg, W.Va.
Mr. Harvey attended West Liberty College, W.Va.
He served in World War II in the U.S. Army 2nd infantry.
Mr. Harvey worked for Forbes Steel and retired from Pettibone Corp.
Surviving are a son, John (Nancy) Harvey; a daughter, Jane (Mike) Reeves; his brother, Jim (Dolores) of Lakeland, Fla.; his two grandchildren, Travis and Rachel Reeves; and several nephews and a nieces.
Deceased is his wife of 58 years, Marjorie Harvey.

Korean War veteran, retired Waynesburg lawyer
Robert M. Keener, 76, of Washington, formerly of Greene County, died at 6:55 a.m. Sunday, November 30, 2008, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.
He was born Sunday, January 17, 1932, in Brave, a son of Merrill Headley Keener and Belle Huffman Keener.
While living in Greene County, Mr. Keener was a member of Kents Chapel Methodist Church in Brave and was affiliated with First Christian Church in Waynesburg. At the time of his death, he was a member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church in Washington.
Mr. Keener was active in many social and service organizations including Optimist Club, Waynesburg Little League, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 757, where he was past exalted ruler, and Waynesburg Moose Lodge 461.
He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army for three years during the Korean War.
Mr. Keener was a graduate of Waynesburg High School Class of 1949 and received his bachelor of arts degree in 1956 from Valparaiso (Ind.) University, also rom where he received his judicial doctorate in 1959.
During law school, he was awarded the Lawyers Title Award in Real Estate Law and the Nathan Burkan Award in Copyright Law.
He was dean of Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity and was admitted to practice law before several courts of Greene County, Superior Court of Pennsylvania, Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and Federal District Court of the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Keener practiced law in Waynesburg for 30 years with the law firm of Sayers, King, Keener and Nalitz from 1959 to 1989, when he retired because of poor health.
In the practice of law, he was a general practitioner with emphasis on real estate law and was instrumental in the legal aspects of construction of the Waynesburg Southern Rail Road for Monongahela Rail Road and construction of Cumberland Mine and Rail Road for U.S. Steel Corp.
He was active in Greene County Bar Association and served as president and secretary.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Bell Keener, whom he married June 5, 1954.
Also surviving are two sons, Stephen Milford Keener of Washington and Scott Emerson Keener of Washington; a granddaughter, Hannah Nadine Gray; three brothers, Joseph M. Keener of Dryden, N.Y., Richard B. Keener of Westfield and Edison W. Keener of Upper St. Clair; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are four sisters, Louella Keener, Susannah C. Keener, Alice K. Wallmark and Helen K. Lemley; and a brother, Merrill Keener.

John Pitek, 82, of Low Hill, died Monday, December 1, 2008.
He was born May 5, 1926, in Denbo, a son of Michael Pitek Sr. and Mary Ballon Pitek.
Mr. Pitek was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Fredericktown American Legion Post 391.
Mr. Pitek was employed for 40 years at J&L/Labelle Processing.
He was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 762.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Helen Turko Pitek; a son, John M. Pitek of Low Hill; two sisters, Sue Senda of Maryland and Elizabeth Harless of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased are four brothers, Joseph Pitek, Michael Pitek Jr., Paul Pitek and Andrew S. Pitek Sr.; and three sisters, Helen Horwath, Ann Chmura and Margaret Ciervo.

WWII vet was American Legion, VFW member
Robert Sheldon Shipe, 88, of Uniontown, formerly of Washington, died Sunday, November 30, 2008, in Uniontown Hospital.
He was born October 18, 1920, in Amwell Township, a son of Sheldon George and Cora Belle McQuay Shipe.
Mr. Shipe served in the U.S. Army during World War II from November 30, 1942, until his honorable discharge December 1, 1944. He was wounded in the Battle of Normandy (France) and received the Purple Heart for his injuries. Mr. Shipe also was awarded a Good Conduct Medal and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.
He was a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are two sons, Mark and Sheldon; three daughters, Linda, Karen and Connie; a brother, William Shipe; two sisters, Helen Miles and Lulu Bedillion; eight grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
Deceased are a daughter, Laurel Shipe; a brother, Donald Shipe; and a sister, Peg Conkel.

She was co-owner of Boagie and Bachall Full Service Salon, established in 1986.

She was the beloved wife of Keith O. Sten; loving stepmother of Andrea R. Sten; caring and loving daughter of Robert A. and Cecilia M. Joyce Ann Sweitzer, 64, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2008, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., with her loving family by her side.
She was born June 15, 1944, in Middlesboro, Ky., a daughter of Myrle Williamson Loveday of Waynesburg and the late Laford Giles.
Mrs. Sweitzer formerly was employed by Dr. Robert Cook, Brady’s Restaurant in Acme and the former JCPenney in Mt. Pleasant.
She was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband, Brad of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Dena Fess; a granddaughter, Caitlin Fess; three brothers, Henry S. Giles and wife Karen of Brownsville, Jack Loveday and wife Debbie of Glasglow, Ky., and Randy Loveday and wife Debbie of Waynesburg; a sister, Beth Whipkey and husband David of Waynesburg; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Janet Louise Patton Vollmer Todd, 58, of Crossville, Tenn., formerly of Waynesburg, went to be with the Lord at 5 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2008, in her home, after a valiant fight with cancer.
She was born Sunday, November 5, 1950, in Brownsville, a daughter of Harry B. Patton of Waynesburg and the late Joan Louise Owens Patton.
Mrs. Todd was a graduate of Waynesburg High School Class of 1968 and attended Potomac State College in Kaiser, W.Va.
She enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading and entertaining.
Mrs. Todd’s career as an optician had her working for many years as a manager of several optical departments.
She was instrumental in raising funds for Children’s Hospital through its annual Christmas Tree Fundraiser.
Surviving, in addition to her father, are her husband, Lyle Todd, whom she married in 2006; a beloved son, Carl G. (Sara) Vollmer IV of Pittsburgh; three sisters, Clara Buchanan (Eugene) King of Waynesburg, Patricia (Troy) Miller of Waynesburg and Joyce (Kevin) Doody of Pittsburgh; six brothers, Harry E. (Carol) Patton of Waynesburg, Dale R. (Chester Kelly) Patton of Chicago, Ill., Gerald L. (Marla) Patton of Waynesburg, Jeffrey W. (Jeanie) Patton of Waynesburg, Command Sgt. Kenneth E. Homemaker, active volunteer enjoyed crocheting
Anna J. Zylo, 91, of Eldersville, died Sunday, November 30, 2008, in her home, with her daughter and granddaughter by her bedside.
She was born October 21, 1917, in Bishop, a daughter of Peter and Mary Amelia Majan Dubravech.
Mrs. Zylo was a homemaker and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
On October 30, 1938, in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg, she married Walter Zylo, who died August 1, 1981.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Burgettstown.
For many years, she served at Canonsburg election polls and was a volunteer for American Red Cross and Salvation Army.
Mrs. Zylo was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
She enjoyed playing cards and bingo and crocheting clothes, doilies, tablecloths and afghans for family and friends.
Mrs. Zylo was an outgoing and generous person.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary C. Allen Baker of Eldersville, Sylvia J. Furbee of Derry and Kathy Zylo of Burgettstown; seven grandchildren, Kevin W. (Leslie) Allen of Weirton, W.Va., Aaron (Jenn) Zylo of North Las Vegas, Nev., Eric Ponder of South Carolina, Douglas Ponder of South Carolina, Walter “Scotty” Zylo of Derry, Amelia D. Furbee of Derry and Anastasia K. Zylo of Burgettstown; five great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Kara Allen, Emma Zylo and Chloe and Triston Ponder; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was a member of Fredericktown American Legion Post 391.
Mr. Pitek was employed for 40 years at J&L/Labelle Processing.
He was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 762.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Helen Turko Pitek; a son, John M. Pitek of Low Hill; two sisters, Sue Senda of Maryland and Elizabeth Harless of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased are four brothers, Joseph Pitek, Michael Pitek Jr., Paul Pitek and Andrew S. Pitek Sr.; and three sisters, Helen Horwath, Ann Chmura and Margaret Ciervo.

Robert Sheldon Shipe
WWII vet was American Legion, VFW member
Robert Sheldon Shipe, 88, of Uniontown, formerly of Washington, died Sunday, November 30, 2008, in Uniontown Hospital.
He was born October 18, 1920, in Amwell Township, a son of Sheldon George and Cora Belle McQuay Shipe.
Mr. Shipe served in the U.S. Army during World War II from November 30, 1942, until his honorable discharge December 1, 1944. He was wounded in the Battle of Normandy (France) and received the Purple Heart for his injuries. Mr. Shipe also was awarded a Good Conduct Medal and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.
He was a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are two sons, Mark and Sheldon; three daughters, Linda, Karen and Connie; a brother, William Shipe; two sisters, Helen Miles and Lulu Bedillion; eight grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
Deceased are a daughter, Laurel Shipe; a brother, Donald Shipe; and a sister, Peg Conkel.

Sharon A. Sten, 55, of Prosperity, died Sunday, November 30, 2008.
She was co-owner of Boagie and Bachall Full Service Salon, established in 1986.
In addition to her family, she loved animals, the outdoors, horseback riding and ballroom dancing.
She was the beloved wife of Keith O. Sten; loving stepmother of Andrea R. Sten; caring and loving daughter of Robert A. and Cecilia M. Raber Rennich; loving sister of Ronald (Stella Conley and Corrina) Rennich, Debbie (Jeff) Altomore and Cathy Lombardi; aunt of Jared, Robbie, Jesse, Diana, Renee and Lana; and great-aunt of Jacob, Emily and Alyssa.

U.S. Marine Corps veteran
Joyce Ann Sweitzer, 64, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2008, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., with her loving family by her side.
She was born June 15, 1944, in Middlesboro, Ky., a daughter of Myrle Williamson Loveday of Waynesburg and the late Laford Giles.
Mrs. Sweitzer formerly was employed by Dr. Robert Cook, Brady’s Restaurant in Acme and the former JCPenney in Mt. Pleasant.
She was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband, Brad of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Dena Fess; a granddaughter, Caitlin Fess; three brothers, Henry S. Giles and wife Karen of Brownsville, Jack Loveday and wife Debbie of Glasglow, Ky., and Randy Loveday and wife Debbie of Waynesburg; a sister, Beth Whipkey and husband David of Waynesburg; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Deceased, in addition to her father, is her stepfather, Charles Jackson Loveday.

Janet Louise Patton Vollmer Todd
Daughter, mother, wife, sister, aunt
Janet Louise Patton Vollmer Todd, 58, of Crossville, Tenn., formerly of Waynesburg, went to be with the Lord at 5 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2008, in her home, after a valiant fight with cancer.
She was born Sunday, November 5, 1950, in Brownsville, a daughter of Harry B. Patton of Waynesburg and the late Joan Louise Owens Patton.
Mrs. Todd was a graduate of Waynesburg High School Class of 1968 and attended Potomac State College in Kaiser, W.Va.
She enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading and entertaining.
Mrs. Todd’s career as an optician had her working for many years as a manager of several optical departments.
She was instrumental in raising funds for Children’s Hospital through its annual Christmas Tree Fundraiser.
Surviving, in addition to her father, are her husband, Lyle Todd, whom she married in 2006; a beloved son, Carl G. (Sara) Vollmer IV of Pittsburgh; three sisters, Clara Buchanan (Eugene) King of Waynesburg, Patricia (Troy) Miller of Waynesburg and Joyce (Kevin) Doody of Pittsburgh; six brothers, Harry E. (Carol) Patton of Waynesburg, Dale R. (Chester Kelly) Patton of Chicago, Ill., Gerald L. (Marla) Patton of Waynesburg, Jeffrey W. (Jeanie) Patton of Waynesburg, Command Sgt. Kenneth E. (Sonya) Patton of New York and Thomas A. Patton of Spraggs; 23 nieces and nephews; and 10 great-nieces and -nephews.

Homemaker, active volunteer enjoyed crocheting
Anna J. Zylo, 91, of Eldersville, died Sunday, November 30, 2008, in her home, with her daughter and granddaughter by her bedside.
She was born October 21, 1917, in Bishop, a daughter of Peter and Mary Amelia Majan Dubravech.
Mrs. Zylo was a homemaker and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
On October 30, 1938, in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg, she married Walter Zylo, who died August 1, 1981.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Burgettstown.
For many years, she served at Canonsburg election polls and was a volunteer for American Red Cross and Salvation Army.
Mrs. Zylo was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
She enjoyed playing cards and bingo and crocheting clothes, doilies, tablecloths and afghans for family and friends.
Mrs. Zylo was an outgoing and generous person.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary C. Allen Baker of Eldersville, Sylvia J. Furbee of Derry and Kathy Zylo of Burgettstown; seven grandchildren, Kevin W. (Leslie) Allen of Weirton, W.Va., Aaron (Jenn) Zylo of North Las Vegas, Nev., Eric Ponder of South Carolina, Douglas Ponder of South Carolina, Walter “Scotty” Zylo of Derry, Amelia D. Furbee of Derry and Anastasia K. Zylo of Burgettstown; five great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Kara Allen, Emma Zylo and Chloe and Triston Ponder; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, are a son, Walter Frank Zylo; a daughter, Patricia A. Ponder Bittick; a grandson, William S. Allen, a granddaughter, Destiny A. Furbee; and a sister, Mary “Mitzi” Messina Jensen.
Friends will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday in Taucher Funeral Home, 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 6, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Burgettstown, with the Rev. Robert Connolly, pastor, as celebrant.
