Jane C. Harvey
Former Washington resident
Jane C. Harvey, 63, of Florence, S.C., formerly of Washington, died Saturday, December 6, 2008.
She was born September 7, 1945, in Crabapple, Greene County, a daughter of the late James and Mabel Clutter.
Mrs. Harvey was a 1963 graduate of West Greene High School.
She worked for Superior Valve Co. for 14 years, where she became team leader in valve testing.
In 1973, she married Robert Harvey of Pittsburgh, who survives, and they made their residence near Taylorstown.
In addition to her husband of 35 years, Mrs. Harvey is survived by a son, Brian of Florence; a sister, Sylvia Stoneking of Greene County; a brother, Roger Clutter of Greene County; and an 8-month-old granddaughter, Addison.
Mrs. Harvey was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.

Moses Jacobs
Jessop Steel retiree, WWII veteran
Moses Jacobs, 92, of Washington, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008, in Bentleyville Personal Care Home.
He was born April 10, 1916, in Clarksburg, W.Va., a son of Abraham and Sarah Moses Jacobs.
Mr. Jacobs was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church and attended Washington High School.
He worked for Jessop Steel, retiring in 1978 after 22 years, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Jacobs enjoyed gardening, fishing, square dancing, sports and his family.
On April 5, 1941, he married Betty J. Spragg, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Robert Jacobs of Scenery Hill and Keith M. Jacobs of Canonsburg; three daughters, Janice (Rick) Lemon of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Ruth Ann Miller of Washington and Susanne (Rossie) Wright of Loris, S.C.; a sister, Martha Corey; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Deceased are a daughter, Beverly Baer; two brothers, Paul and Jack Jacobs; three sisters, Annie, Wodea and Helen; a half brother, George; and a half sister, Elizabeth.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until noon, the time of services, Saturday, December 20, in Piatt & Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. Ronald J. Geisler officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church
Sharon A. Kubinec, 50, of Canonsburg, formerly of Greensburg, died Sunday, December 14, 2008, in Excela Health, Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg.
She was born October 7, 1958, in Greensburg, a daughter of Joyce Smolcic Kubinec of Greensburg and the late Richard Kubinec.
Miss Kubinec began her career with Sears in the auto center and then became store manager in Washington, and later Robinson, until her retirement.
She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg.
Miss Kubinec also was a member of Sears Retirees Club and Quilt Company East.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are a sister, Donna Steele of Greensburg; beloved nephews Michael and Matthew Steele, both of Greensburg; two aunts, Sara Jane Kubinec and Gene Kubinec, both of Greensburg; and several cousins.
She also leaves a special friend, Melissa Easter of Greensburg.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, December 20, in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 1001 Mt. Pleasant Road, Greensburg, with the Rev. Larry J. William B. Lesko
U.S. Army veteran was PennDOT laborer
William B. Lesko, 80, of Houston, formerly of Strabane, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008, in Donnell House, Washington.
He was born Saturday, May 12, 1928, in Canonsburg, a son of Michael and Eva Gresko Lesko.
Mr. Lesko was a member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts 191 and 2026, American Legion 902, Labor Temple and KSKJ.
He served with the U.S. Army and worked as a laborer for PennDOT.
Surviving are a son, Bob Lesko, with whom he made his home; a brother, Nicholas Lesko of Canonsburg; two grandchildren, Halie and Jesse Lesko; a nephew, Nicholas Lesko; and a niece, Holly Lesko.
Deceased are his wife, Agnes Kotermanski Lesko; and a brother, Theodore Lesko.

Broad Street Baptist Church member, JCPenney retiree
Freda D. Lewis, 92, formerly of West End, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008, in her home in Squirrel Hill, following a two-month illness.
She was born April 9, 1916, in Washington, a daughter of William H. and Pearl Taylor Devore.
Mrs. Lewis was a graduate of Trinity High School.
She was an active member of Broad Street Baptist Church when living in Washington.
Mrs. Lewis formerly worked in sales at JCPenney for many years before retiring in 1977. She also worked at G.C. Murphy and Washington School District.
She enjoyed doing crafts, sewing and reading.
On September 24, 1937, she married Thomas H. (Harry) Lewis, who died December 19, 1999.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara M. Bodnar of Cochranton and Carole J. (Craig) Ilk of Squirrel Hill, with whom she made her home; two sisters, Fern Heatley and Lois Hickman, both of Washington; a brother, Dane Devore of Washington; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a sister, Rose Ray, and a brother, William Devore.

Genevieve Dolores Macanga
Devoted wife, mother known for sewing, gardening, cooking
Genevieve Dolores (Jennie) Macanga, 91, of Houston, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a three-week illness.
She was born July 31, 1917, in Cokeburg, a daughter of Polish immigrant parents Michael and Mary Kubic Moskal.
On April 26, 1941, she married Edward Macanga, who passed away October 17, 2003.
Mrs. Macanga was a devoted wife and mother. Having kept a tidy home, she helped with homework, crocheted, quilted, made clothes, collectibles, and cared for her cats. She was a sitter for her grandchildren and loved singing with Chloe.
Known to all as Jennie, she had a green thumb and was able to grow about anything, anywhere. She took responsibility for feeding birds in her neighborhood every day, rain or shine. She provided a home environment with fondly remembered Polish main dishes and desserts.
Mrs. Macanga will be remembered for telling her stories of growing up in Mather and Rich Hill (Meadow Lands), as well as her surprise 90th birthday party.
Surviving are a son, Edward Macanga Jr. (Diane) of Medina, Ohio; a daughter, Judith (Judy) Ashbrook (Furman) of Houston; six grandchildren, Mark and wife Bobette, Eric and Anna Macanga and Brian, Ryan and Genevieve Lawton; five great-grandchildren, twins Shane and Kyla, Arielle, Alexa and Chloe Lawton; two brothers, Edward “Mutchie” and Thomas Moskal, and a sister, Dorothy Sacco, all of Rich Hill; a sister-in-law, Gertie Hodor (Amil) of Washington; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, John and Theodore Moskal, and four sisters, Helen Blasinsky, Frances Rasefske, Pauline Kusky and Marie Moskal.

JOHN ALLEN MCCAHILL
John Allen (Jack) Mc-Cahill, a native of Canonsburg and former attorney to President Richard Nixon, died Saturday, December 13, 2008, from complications of COPD and heart disease, in his home in Falls Church, Va.
McCahill practiced law in the Washington, D.C., area for nearly 40 years, serving as an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia. He successfully prosecuted more than 100 cases D.C. Superior Court.
He was appointed special assistant to the president during the Nixon administration, serving as deputy assistant in the Office of the Special Legal Counsel in the White House during the Watergate era. He dealt directly with the White House tapes and shaped strategies for the House impeachment hearings and the overall defense of the president.
He also served as general counsel to the President’s Committee on Olympic Sports, established by President Gerald Ford to investigate how U.S. Olympic teams and sports federations operate under their charters with an objective of updating U.S. sports policies to make U.S. teams more competitive worldwide. He was instrumental in assisting Congress in passage of the Amateur Sports Athletic Act that supports current Olympic activity.
Following his service in government, he went on to practice law privately, continuing to focus on Olympic sports. He served as special legislative counsel to the U.S. Olympic Committee and offered legal representation to several U.S.-based sports federations.
The greater part of his private practice was spent in defense of white-collar cases in the United States and a number of foreign countries as a litigator.
He was born in Canonsburg and graduated from Columbia University in New York City in 1962 and Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University, Washington, D.C., in 1969. He was a member of Washington, D.C. Bar Association and Virginia Bar Association and was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of the United States and several state supreme courts.
Surviving are his daughter, Melissa McCahill Deerin of Chevy Chase, Md., and three grandchildren, Devon Parker Deerin, Jack McCahill Deerin and James Benedict Deerin, all of Chevy Chase. He was separated from his wife, Julie Parker Mc-Cahill, who also survives.

Washington contractor, laborer enjoyed music
William Andrew “Keen” Miller, 18, of Washington, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008, in his home.
He was born March 9, 1990, in Washington, a son of David C. Miller of Washington and Ann Gamble Miller of Lehigh, Fla.
Mr. Miller was a contractor/laborer.
He enjoyed music, the Steelers and his dog, Bones.
Surviving are his fiancée, Ashley Angott of Washington; a son, Xavier Lee Angott, at home; three brothers, Christopher Miller of Monongahela, David Miller Jr. of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Skylar Miller of Washington; a sister, Emilee Morrison of Washington; an aunt, Brenda Couderc; three uncles, Rick and Mike King and Harry Ringer; and his stepmother, Misty Blue Morrison, and his stepgrandmother, Cindy Powell, both of Washington.

Former Low Hill resident
Robert P. Murray Jr., 89, of Pensacola, Fla., formerly of Low Hill, passed away October 6, 2008, in his home.
He was born July 7, 1919.
On May 23, 1947, he married Virginia Lee Vasbinder, who survives.
In addition to his wife, surviving are two sons, Karl of Pensacola and Bob (Joyce) of Leetsdale; a daughter, Carol Wyels (Butch) of Westville, Ind.; five grandchildren, Shannon, Karlen, Kris, Jennifer and Angela; and nine great grandchildren.
Mr. Murray was most proud of his family, military service and membership in Masonic Lodge. His quick wit, kindness, generosity and love will be deeply missed.

Foreman at Grief Brothers for 33 years
Karen Faye Naraskivitch, 69, of Washington, died Monday, December 16, 2008, in her home, following a four-week illness.
She was born November 10, 1939, in Washington, a daughter of Leroy R. and Elizabeth Harvoth Harris.
Mrs. Naraskivitch attended Trinity High School and was a foreman at Grief Brothers for 33 years.
She was baptized Protestant.
Mrs. Naraskivitch loved playing bingo at the Alpine.
In 1956, she married Joseph Kenneth Naraskivitch, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Richard (Brenda Stienstraw) Naraskivitch and Royce Naraskivitch, both of Washington; a sister, Hope Ann Guzzo of Florida; seven grandchildren, Cherie Bonus, Aaron Naraskivitch, Adam Naraskivitch, Joshua D. Naraskivitch, Ryan Martin, Matthew Aiden and Roy Michael Finchan; a great-grandson, Jacob Naraskivitch; and a great-granddaughter, Kira Powell.

Former California resident
Dennis K. Odgers, 55, of Hanahan, S.C., husband of 35 years to Melissa Bell Odgers, died Monday, December 15, 2008, in his home.
He was born February 2, 1953, in Johnstown.
After graduating from California Area High School, Mr. Odgers served in the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1982. He retired in August 2008 as diagnostic imaging manager from Roper Hospital, where he worked for more than 30 years.
Surviving are his wife, Melissa; his parents, the Rev. Norman and Judith Hunt of California; a son, Jason K. Odgers (Jennifer) of Goose Creek, S.C.; a daughter, Jenny M. Hathorne (Kevin) of Elgin, S.C.; three grandchildren, Alyssa Driggers-Hathorne, Tyler Odgers and “Baby” Odgers; a twin sister, Deborah Enterline (Gary); two sisters, Carrie Kennedy (Mark) and Lisa Buday (Jeff); and a grandmother, Belle Brutout.
Deceased are his mother, Judy Brutout Hunt, and a brother, Farley Hunt.
Mr. Odgers always considered California his hometown.

Anna Mae South
Canonsburg homemaker enjoyed gardening, bingo
Anna Mae South, 73, of Canonsburg, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2008, in her home.
She was born October 17, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of Vincent and Margaret D’Arrigo Mellusi.
Mrs. South was a member of St. Patrick Church. She also was a member of Canonsburg Eagles Lodge 861 Ladies Auxiliary.
She was a homemaker and was a resident of Canonsburg for 53 years.
Mrs. South enjoyed flower gardening, was an avid bingo player, liked to cook and also loved all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On February 4, 1955, she married William A. South, who died June 3, 2004.
Surviving are three sons, William (Judith) South and Roy (Theresa) South, both of Sanford, N.C., and Francis South of Marianna; five daughters, Ann Miller, Leanora (Duaine) Cypher, Rosemarie Young, Laura (Eric) Foley, all of Canonsburg, and Sarah (Stephen) Wessel of Hendersonville; a brother, Vincent Mellusi of Rochester, N.Y.; a sister, Laura Mellusi of Edison, N.J.; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the loving mother of Robert (Susan) Whipps and Martha (Richard) Grattan; grandmother of Diana (Roy) Arnold, Robert (Melanie) Whipps, Elizabeth (Ryan) Purpura and Emily Grattan; great-grandmother of Matthew and Benjamin Arnold; sister of Lucille Quinn and the late Robert Stafford; aunt of the Rev. Scott Quinn and Gary Quinn; and daughter of William David and Ethel Jane Smith Stafford.
