A Pittsburgh man wanted in the May 24 shooting death of a Washington man near a West End bar was arrested Wednesday in McKeesport.
Washington police Lt. Dan Stanek said the department got a call from McKeesport police saying authorities there had 28-year-old Henry Dion Williams in custody. Stanek said he did not know the circumstances surrounding Williams’ arrest, but he believes the Pittsburgh man was taken into custody without incident.
Williams is accused of shooting to death 23-year-old Rensfield Donald Jarvis in the 700 block of Ewing Street. Jarvis had moved to the Washington area from the Bronx, N.Y., not long before his death. He was staying with family members, police said. Jarvis died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest.
Police used video surveillance both from Pickle’s bar and a city-owned camera on the street to identify Williams.
The bar video showed Williams had been at the bar for a substantial period of time before Jarvis walked over and tried unsuccessfully to shake his hand.
The city’s camera showed the two men outside the bar, but they were out of range when the shots were fired. Witnesses told police Williams walked away after shooting Jarvis.
Williams was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on homicide and gun-related charges. He was placed in the Washington County jail without bond. A preliminary hearing is tentatively set for Wednesday in Central Court.
