Cal men roll in opener

A 24-8 run midway through the first half powered California University to an 84-55 season-opening victory over Penn State-Fayette in a non-conference game.

Anthony Lytle and Tynell Fortune each scored 16 points to pace the Vulcans’ offense, which shot 57 percent from the floor. Jake Jacubec scored 11 points and Jeremy Posey added 10 in a balanced attack. Keith Lowe had a game-high six assists to go with his seven points and two steals.

Cal outrebounded Penn State-Fayette 44-33 and Art Cook led the way nine. Quentin Harding had eight.

Brandon Cunningham scored 16 and David Winns 15 for PS-Fayette.
