A robber got away with an unknown amount of cash Thursday after robbing the Lone Pine Market in Amwell Township.

State police in Washington said the man entered the market at 618 Lone Pine Road shortly before 8:30 p.m. and sprayed some type of liquid at the owner, 81-year-old Virginia Hart.

He demanded money from Hart and grabbed cash from the cash register. State police said Hart was attempting to pull the register from the counter to thwart the robbery.

He then fled from the store in an unknown direction. State police said he is about 5 feet, 9 inches to 5 feet, 11 inches tall and was wearing a black-and-white finely checked jacket with a black hood. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 724-223-5200.
