West Greene Lions select outstanding students

ROGERSVILLE – West Greene Lions Club has named Anna Salai, Breanna Shuckhart and Tabitha Whipkey as outstanding students for the first three months of the school year.

Salai, daughter of Michael and Carol Salai of Wind Ridge, is president of the National Honor Society, president of 4-H Sewing Club, drum major of the marching band and member of the concert and jazz bands, and member of the yearbook and newspaper staffs, drama club and chemistry club.

She participates in track and also serves as a youth soccer coach. Outside school, she is a member of the youth group at Fairview United Methodist Church.

Salai plans to attend a four-year college or university and major in graphic design.

Shuckhart, daughter of Charles and Margaret Shuckhart of Holbrook, is a member of National Honor Society, president of the senior class, a member of the Student Senate and is a teacher’s assistant.

She is a member of the varsity track team and captain of the varsity cheerleading squad. She is listed in Who’s Who for Leadership, Service, Literature and Science, and has earned the Citizenship Award, several scholastic awards and the scholar athlete award.

Shuckhart also has won the Outstanding Choral Award and 4-H awards for showmanship and for her projects. She was West Greene’s representative for the Regatta Queen contest and the Bituminous Coal Queen competition.

Outside school, Shuckhart attends The Hundred Chapter, where she is a member of the choir and helps with the children’s class.

Shuckhart plans to attend a university for a nursing degree and eventually work in a neonatal unit.

Whipkey, daughter of Wayne Whipkey of Aleppo and Stephanie Whipkey of Pine Bank, is a member of the senior standing committee and drama club. She has maintained highest honors throughout high school and is a member of Santa’s Helper year-round.

She also has competed in the Regatta Pageant.

Whipkey plans to attend Fairmont State University and earn a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She eventually would like to become a neonatal and pediatric nurse.
