Christmas wreaths gone
As the holiday season officially begins, motorists traveling through Houston Borough may notice something different this year - the absence of Christmas wreaths on the utility poles.
Yes, after approximately two decades, the Houston Christmas Decoration Committee has disbanded. This committee of volunteers raised the funds to purchase the wreaths, have the electrical service installed, cleaned and maintained the decorations, and organized a Light Up Night that was truly special for a community so small.
We would like to thank all past and present members of this committee and please know that your efforts were enjoyed and appreciated. Sadly, your community involvement will be missed, but raising a family in a town such as this has been rewarding.
