The Washington County Cattlemen’s Association recently awarded scholarships to three Washington County students at its annual banquet. The money was raised by auctioning pies entered in the Apple Pie Contest at Washington County Ag Days at Washington Crown Center in March, donations and other events sponsored by the association. Recipients were, from left: •Courtney Hilderbrand, daughter of Dave and Carol Hilderbrand of Claysville. Hilderbrand is a graduate of McGuffey High School and is in her second year at Penn Commercial, where she is pursuing a career as a medical assistant. • Karlie Shriver, daughter of Bo and HP Shriver of Avella. She is a graduate of McGuffey High School and is a sophomore at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she is majoring in health and physical education. • Caitlin Ullom, daughter of Amy Ullom of Avella. She is a graduate of Avella Junior-Senior High School and is a sophomore at West Liberty University, where she is majoring in speech pathology and audiology.
